Sequels Official Brainiac casting thread

Man, Hugo Weaving would be awesome for so many DC villains. Joker, Brainiac, Sinestro. Unfortunatley, he can only be one, and I choose Sinestro.

You know, I can't see Tom Hanks doing Brainiac, and on the surface it doesn't make sense. However, that guy can do just about everything, and make it work. If he got the role, I wouldn't complain.

Yeah, I wouldnt want Hanks there, I was just throwing out a name I hadn't seen yet. The VW guy is great in constatine and thats what made me think of him for Braniac.

If it is CGI (which I hope it is) then why cant they use the voice of Braniac in the superman/ Justice League cartoon he had a great voice.

which brainiac would you rather see STAS or Comic?

Hugo Weaving, but without a shaved head because in the comics it wasn't shaved and it looked better.

Jason Isaacs............He was my choice for Lex as well!!!!

I had this thought today, actually - David Bowie as Brainiac.

He'd wear some kind of costume, except for his head, which would be full of mo-cap dots (Andy Serkis style). Then the face would be CGI - a green android face with the unearthly apparance of the young Bowie. It wouldn't be hard to have it look totally photo-real these days.

So you'd get his voice, his performance, and the way he looked 30 years ago. How ****ing awesome would that be?

Okay, after seeing X3's great youngifying visual effects, I have to re-iterate this. 30 year old David Bowie as Brainiac!

Raph Finnes (from Red Dragon)

Or here's one that's WAAAY out there...Patrick Dempsay?? (in B's human form that is...follow it up with CGI later in the film)

Here is my idea on who shold play new Jor-El and Brainiac. I think Patrick Stewart Could play Jor-El or Brainiac. But i am for Jor-El since he has been a good guy as of late. He'd be perfect for either. However my obsolute favorite actor to play Brainiac would be Viggo Mortenson or Ron Pearlmen.

lol I changed my mind since then though.

We just need a strong VOICE ACTOR.

Brainiac himself, should not be played by an actor.....its too cheesy.

It should be like the STAS version.

I think they should have a human form for the beginning of the movie. Kind of an "charm and infultrate" thing.

Nah, if hes tied to the Kryptonian Crystal tech, that'd be strange.

He will be a machine....Im sure there will be someone in the suit, but he shouldnt have a human appearance.

Sorry, I guess the Smallville approach kinda rubbed off on me

Suit? you don't wanna go CGI?

As someone said earlier Weaving would be great for so many DC villain roles, The Joker, Brainiac, Sinestro and others, but personally I want him to be The Joker

My Brainiac pic would be Jason Isaacs <---I like that suggestion A LOT

it all depends how they want to do Brainiac.

Do they want to go the S:TAS way and have Brainiac be the computer system of Krypton that chose to store all its information, rather than warn the planet about its impending doom?

Do they go the Smallville way, (the following explained in an interview by James Marsters), and have Brainiac be the BRAIN InterActive Computer (as stated by Jor-El) of Krypton that was corrupted by Zod in an attempt to conquer the planet, but Brainiac ended up destroying the planet.

Do they involve the human body of Milton Fine who he takes over or just go with a robot?

I'd say Corey Burton if it is a voice actor (he is well qualified for the role). If not, Keifer or Pierce Brosnan (i think Brosnan can give it a 2001 voice, which is what inspired the STAS brainiac anyway).

They will never do Braniac cuz he's far too expensive to have... an all digital humanoid figured Robotic villain that will have to be mostly CG. I mean it's not like he's a Cyborg which is all covered by skin. You're going to see all the metallic stuff and crap

It'll really annoy me if they make Braniac like in Smallville a Cyborg... do it the right way if they're going to do it and even in that... it's going to be too friggin difficult. Full CG oriented performance... one of the main reason's for the Hulk's failure, though a lot of the CG in that was good.

I think here they might use prosthetics or enhanced make up... but other than that I don't ever see them doing Braniac...

They most likely will do BIZARRO, cuz all that will take is make up and prosthetics on a huge actor...

I agree with you wholeheartedly that a Braniac for film should not be a humanoid, but rather an amorphous mecha-organic being (short of Machine City in the Matrix) that can manifest himself in many different aspects of Earth's technology. Yes, it would be quite complicated and expensive....but that's what these films do, or should do...raise the bar. The idea of a liquid-metal Terminator muist've been preposterous and incomprehensible for some, yet Cameron made it work for T2. It's time to step it up a notch yet again, and Braniac would be a great platform. It would also be a much more interesting cinematic foil for Superman, than another big, super-strong brawler.
