Why do I see history repeating itself with WiiU?
Right now, from what I've seen, I'm in no way interested in the WiiU. And this is coming from a pretty die-hard Nintendo fan, who has bought every system that has come out.

Maybe I'll change my mind, but I really hate how big that controller is, and I don't even want to think about how expensive one of those are. What if I want to play with a friend? I dunno, it just doesn't look good to me, so far.

Well. It only has the one touch controller. Then friends play with other peripherals. So the price of another controller shouldn't be a concern as they won't be selling them seperately.

I hate to say it, but I agree with you... and I've been a Nintendo fan for almost 15 years now. I really have no interest in playing Metroid or Zelda with that giant pad... am I the ONLY person left that just wants a regular, old fashioned controller? I don't mind using the wiimote, but I still use the GC controller whenever I can, and the WiiU pad... no thanks.

Ha, yeah, when I played the Metroid trilogy, the thing I was thinking the most was "damn, I wish I just had the GC controller for this. It was so much easier to control".

My problem with the WiiU is that I would literally only be buying it for Nintendo developed games. I have a 360, there is no way I am going to buy any multiplatform games on the Wii U instead of the 360, I'm sure the online will be a hassle and who knows if Nintendo can get a handle on things like DLC. And before you know it there will be a next generation and then the Wii U will be old hat again like the Wii was this gen.

So I'd be buying a new console simply to play an HD Nintendo game maybe once or twice a year, they don't release that many... and then it's just the ****ing Wii collecting dust all over again.

i'll wait for the rumoured price drop, not sure whats happening in the uk

but still only 2 games on a system to hold my interest is not a good sign, even worse they are just remakes

I can't say I'm NOT interested in the WiiU... but I doubt I run out and buy one. Maybe if they give me a legit MMO like Pokemon game on the system. However, getting a legit Pokemon game on a console is something Nintendo seems to have no interest in doing...

I bought a DS Lite a couple of years ago. It still works. I still enjoy playing it. I'm interested in the 3DS, but I'm not convinced that I need to upgrade, yet. The price drop is a nice incentive, but I have some other expenses that will take priority over this. I will most likely get one sometime later this year.

I bet they will. Its still early and its most likely at least a year till release. I cant see them not selling the controllers. This is something that will most likely change.

anybody know when we can start downloading the free games?

I don't know. Sending out 2-4 separate wireless video feeds from the same box while still playing something on the screen and having them all work well is quite a tech hurdle. And keep in mind that while the system release is probably a year away, they would need to start manufacturing them well in advance (probably about a million units per month) in order to have enough for a launch. I wouldn't expect any major changes from what we saw at E3.

This is Miyamoto's quote from E3:
"Our basic premise is that you can use one with a system," he said. "If we got to an idea of having multiple (controllers) it might be just more convenient for people to use their Nintendo 3DS and have a way to connect that. That being said, we are doing research about if someone brings their controller to their friends house and they want to play together on Wii U to whether or not something like that would be possible."

What they will need to do is release a normal controller without the screen but with all the buttons (hopefully better than the classic controller) so people could play games like Mortal Kombat or whatever, together.

It doesnt have to be for multiple people to use on one unit. Im sure they will sell them seperately as replacements. What if the thing breaks? And they are bound to break by the mere fact that it has a screen on it. Are they going to have to have people ship them back to Nintendo and wait until they can get them back? Some people will want at least one backup and if it does break, be able to go out and get a new one to not interrupt with their game time

im pretty sure most of you know that if you go to gamestop and trade your DS Lite you get a 3DS for 100. That's what I did today, but be warned they will ask you to renew the powerup or get the power up card and get a warranty. I didn't need to renew my membership and I didn't care about the warranty so I just got it for 100.

What are some games that are coming that are must haves? I will be getting Zelda next week and I have the new generations pokemon and I have some mario games also.

Yes, if it says Ambassador in the news sections, then you're good to go.

I might be ****ed with the free games thing. I kept forgetting to connect my 3DS but from what I read, it sounded like so long as you did it once between when you purchased it and that date, you'd be good.

If you connected it between the dates that the Ambassador Program was 1st announced and the 12 of August...

do you see the Ambassodor Program news item in your 3DS eSHOP's News section?

I didn't. The announcement made it seem like you had to connect it at some point since you got your 3DS. I'll try calling Nintendo next week when they have more info on their site. Might have to lie but I don't care. I own all of their consoles (except Virutal Boy) and almost every handheld.
