A while back, French tech website 01net reported a rumor that the 3DS will be getting a second analogue stick peripheral. Well, scans from this week's Famitsu confirmed the rumor.

Spoiler! [BLACKOUT]It's ugly and bulky as ****.[/BLACKOUT]

I sure am glad I didn't get a 3DS.

Other Nintendo rumors that 01net has also reported recently is that Nintendo plans to completely relaunch the 3DS under a new name, that developers are very unhappy with the WiiU, and unsurprising if those last two rumors turn out to be true, that Iwata's head is on the chopping block.

Edit: Needed to get that Reggie pic in there. :funny:

This answers two questions.

1) How are left handed people supposed to play Kid Icarus Uprising
2) What we can expect from the redesign (3DS Plus Alpha).

I almost feel bad for people that got a 3DS already. That thing is bulky, ugly and looks uncomfortable to use. I also found this image

As soon as the redesign comes out, it'll include a 2nd Slide Pad built in. Nintendo better offer a way to transfer data (Miis, Street Pass data, my completed Puzzles and hats, Virtual Console games, etc.) from an old 3DS unto it.

Yeah the next one should presumably be all integrated. I wonder why they are revealing this now bc I can only imagine it killing 3DS sales. I mean who's going to by one knowing that a better redesign is on the horizon? Id wait for that instead of getting this bulky bundle. They should have waited to reveal this till they were ready to show the next 3DS

At this point the chances of me buying a 3DS of any kind and or design are very slim.

I want one but... I dunno.

I wanted to get one for Ocarina of time but im at the point where I dont see myself portable gaming anymore. I have a few games on my phone and thats all I need.

I don't understand why some of you are making a big deal about it? If you don't like the way it looks, than don't buy the peripheral.

My god, you're a genius. I never considered... not buying it.

I was saying you shouldn't make a big deal about a peripheral killing 3DS sales, or that it solidifies a redesign of a second analog stick. It wasn't even directed towards you, as you just gave us the news. But thanks for being a huge dick about it, either way......

Actually, nobody has said they weren't going to buy it. It seems the ones who are making the biggest fuss about it, are the ones who don't even own a 3DS(you included). But what you did say, was how you felt bad for all the 3DS owners, because of how bulky it is, alluding to the fact that every 3DS owner is going to go ahead and buy one. For me, I think it looks stupid, and is unnecessary. I won't be purchasing one.

As for that image you posted: It seems to be completely wrong. Every article I have read, said it will only add 1-2 centimeters of thickness, so I don't think that image is a proper indication of what it'll look like. The 3DS is 74mm thick right now, which means it'll tack on another 10-20mm. Hardly the same as what that pic is trying to depict.

Its a big deal if Nintendo decides to make games that actually requires a 2nd Slide Pad and you have to buy this contraption. Bigger deal still if they then discontinue the 3DS because of this and release the redesign that has two Slide Pads built in because its a necessity.

I was planning on getting a 3DS this holiday season if they're gonna release a Mario Kart bundle... but maybe I'll wait again if they're just gonna release a second model.

This might be a good opportunity for me to get another 360 and catch up on all the 360 games I've missed out on the past year.

Yes, but I don't see it working that way. If it does get produced, I think it'll be implemented in a few games at best. Although, if they do have a redesign, they may include it in a new one, but at the same time, nothing is final. We don't even know for a fact if this will be produced, or if they're just toying around with the idea.

I think the touch pad works great for a second analog stick. I still think Metroid Prime Hunters worked great on the regular DS.

Um no, that wasnt what I was alluding to. I didnt say I felt bad for all 3DS owners bc every one of them is going to go out and get this. I did write that I almost feel bad and Im referring to the thing in general. Things out about 6 months and with this, it looks like there's going to be a major hardware revision on the horizon. Not some minor one to shrink it down, but actually adding a new control scheme.

And besides what big fuss are you seeing? I see people expressing their opinions and take on the news. There is no "big fuss" being made. If you want to see that, go to other forums where kids are screaming obscenities at Nintendo and going off about how stupid and horrible the system is. As of now, no one is bashing Nintendo or the 3DS in this thread over this news. I think you are making a bigger deal out of people supposedly making a big deal about this

im pretty pissed off tbh - they shuld give these out for free or exchange the redesigned unit (which will be out soon no doubt) for our current 3DS

When you think about it that IS pretty lame. People bought it for $250 when there wasn't a damn thing to play, then dropped it down and told the new people "f*** you, no free games" and now a new peripheral and THEN a system redesign? Not cool, Nintendo.

People on Joystiq are saying this little peripheral will ONLY be used for Monster Hunter... They seem to forget that a redesign is coming very soon. This is obviously going to be for the early adopter that will feel burnt with a price drop AND a redesign.

IMHO Nintendo should offer these things for free for every early adopter.

Just sayin'.

Yeah, register your 3DS before a certain date, regardless of when you bought it, and you get the peripheral free.

Only with Monster Hunter now. Do they really think they are going to make this for just one game? A second analog stick has actual applications in almost all genres of games. It wont be limited to just Monster Hunter. Its not like the Guitar Hero add on for the DS

Yeah, it might launch with Monster Hunter or something, but this is an official Nintendo product; I'm sure they have bigger plans for it than one single game.

I've never traded in a system, each one I've bought I still own. I may break that streak with the 3DS. Nintendo should have released it this November instead of March. That way it could have launched with no games instead of crap and then go months with nothing but N64 ports.

Like I said earlier, Nintendo really dropped the ball here. Confused the casuals with poor advertising, a very poor launch line up, and too high of a price. I am really surprised, because they are usually on the ball with this stuff. Pretty sure a little arrogance was at play here. Lesson learned at least.

If it was a mail-order thing, I know I won't receive s*** :oldrazz: Nintendo still hasn't sent my Club Nintendo Platinum member prize nor my OoT Soundtrack CD and never will :o

Its amazing how my two favorite companies, Nintendo & Capcom, have really been disappointing and pissing me off respectively this year.
