Did you send them an email about the OoT soundtrack? I read a guy on CheapAssGamer sent them an email and they got his out to him.

The Platinum Awards take awhile to send out. Last year I got mine in October, unless you're still waiting for last year's.

Yes, I did that email thing. Or do you mean did I follow the email they sent me to confirm I wanted the OOT CD? Cause then yes. I didn't follow up with them since.

Send their CS another email that you haven't received the CD. They might send one.

Is this year's Plat award the one you're waiting for?

Like I said earlier, Nintendo really dropped the ball here. Confused the casuals with poor advertising, a very poor launch line up, and too high of a price. I am really surprised, because they are usually on the ball with this stuff. Pretty sure a little arrogance was at play here. Lesson learned at least.

Definitely arrogance. The Wii and DS Lite were the hottest **** on the planet for two or three years. They assumed they could put out a rushed, overpriced piece of hardware on the shelves with a piss poor launch lineup and people would still come out in droves to buy it.

I really do hope that Nintendo continues down this blunderous road for a time and they suffer many more embarrassments and outright failures with the 3DS. I know you're probably rolling your eyes right about now, but what I said honestly doesn't come from a place of spite. I just want Nintendo to maybe learn the tiniest bit of humility so they won't repeat any of the same mistakes with the WiiU and work extra hard on making it a really great console.

I don't want Nintendo to continue with disastrous results. The sooner they get their act back the better. The last thing I want to see is Nintendo go down the same route as Sega or worse, Atari. The longer they fail, the worse off Nintendo supporters are, too. And the day Nintendo drops from the 1st party market is the day I just stop playing video games. Screw that.

I will say that Nintendo makes it REALLY hard for me to stick up for them. I was a Nintendo kid growing up, The NES with Mario/Duck Hunt/Track & Field (along with the HUGE mat and gun) is still one of my fondest Christmas memories... The Nintendo 64 is still one of my all time favorite systems (despite that being the start of their downfall..)

But still... Stupid things they've said and done the past few years starting with "Online & HD are not important for gaming" to what's been going on with the 3DS and the WiiU. I mean... come ON Nintendo! Need I remind everyone about your stupid hubbub about the Wii Vitality censor?

I've been a serious Nintendo fan since I first started gaming... like just about everyone else the first game I ever played was SMB on NES when I was like 6 or 7, but the first console I got was Super NES. I just turned 25, so I've been with Nintendo for almost two decades... but the way they're doing things this year is disappointing. Especially since they were on top for the last couple years. I expected great things from them, especially after last year's amazing E3 show... but they're just not delivering. Rushing out 3DS solely to get it out, expecting people to pay $250 when there's nothing but s*** to play, and STILL the only worthwhile game (in my opinion) is OoT. If they had continued to hype it up over the summer, and then launched it this fall with Zelda, Super Mario 3D Land, and Mario Kart... I really doubt they would've had any problems whatsoever.

But Skyward Sword is still on the way, and as a huge Zelda fan, I'm confident that'll make up for the 3DS disappointment.

What SNES games? Unless you know something new, the Ambassador games are NES and GBA games. And its a vague "before 2012" date.

Bad news for Nintendo

6. Nintendo's once nearly insurmountable lead in the video console sector has been lost, and its sales have fallen further and further behind rivals Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT - News) and Sony (NYSE: SNE - News). The rise of the Google (NASDAQ: GOOG - News) Android operating system has also encouraged video game publishers to make more products that run on that platform. The 2010 market share of Nintendo DS fell from 70% in 2009 to 57%. Nintendo's growth has also been damaged by the rise of the iPad and iPhone. The future is even grimmer. "iSuppli predicts Nintendo will sell 70 million 3DS gaming systems by 2015, a figure that is 21 million less than the 91 million in sales racked up by the original DS at the same point in its sales cycle," according to the Unofficial Apple Weblog. Nintendo announced an unexpected quarterly loss on July 28, and its shares plunged 20%. The stock is down from a 52-week high of 26,780 yen to 11,850 yen. In late 2007, shares reached 80,000 yen.

Does that 91 million include the DS, DS Lite, DSi and DSi XL? Because if so, then it's really misleading.

Yeah, it's kinda hard to predict anything like that, when there are clearly many different iterations of the original DS, when compared to only a single one for the 3DS. The 3DS actually seems to be on the up, with a 260% increase in systems sales after the price drop.

Like I said, Nintendo can only blame themselves. When they launched at $250 with no Mario, Zelda or Metroid... what did they expect? And Mario STILL isn't out for another couple months.

I was on the fence about getting a 3DS...I would've gotten one last month if I had just a little bit of free time to focus on it... :(

anybody know when we are able to download the GBA games?

I'm currently debating whether or not to buy a 3DS or not. I'm just waiting for more games to get released or announced. Zelda, Starfox, & some others make it pretty tempting, but i'll hold out until Mario Kart comes out.

Friend of mine manages the local EB and he says he's been selling a boatload of 3DS' since the price drop. I want one but I will probably wait for the obvious redesign.

any hint on the design or will we find out today?

There is no way they announce a redesign today, and they probably won't until after the holidays. Today's conference is about the new firmware features and Mario Kart.

I doubt there will be a redesign for at least another year.

I'll probably get one around Christmas, since both Super Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart will be out by then.

Really hoping Santa leaves me one of these under the tree...
