I love Mario Kart, so yeah I'm definitely getting 7. I heard Ocarina got a graphics update, what is your opinion on it? I'm thinking of getting it cause my copy for the N64 doesn't want to work anymore. As for Star Fox, that sucks to hear. I missed out the first time around, so I wanted to see if it was worth getting.

Ocarina did get a graphic update and it looks great and plays well, the only reason not to get it is if you're sick of the game.

Star Fox is a fine game, but it is super short with not much replay value. The multiplayer is extremely simple and kind of boring, and you can see all the single player content in like 2-3 hours. It also got a graphics update and looks really nice, but I don't think it has enough content to be worth $40, especially considering how massive Ocarina is for the same price.

What's your opinion on the 3DS itself? How does it feel when you hold it in your hands? Is the 3D good?

the 3D depends on the game imo, the 3D on ocarina is fantastic, then some gaes like mario kart and the resi evil demo it is alot less noticeable

Good to hear. I'm thinking of getting a 3DS, especially with the new Smash Bros. coming out for it. I'm currently waiting to see if we could use the 3DS with WiiU in some form.

is there any news about Zelda:Spirit Tracks or Zelda:Phantom Hourglass in 3DS version. I really want to play these games, but before i buy, i kinda want to know if there is any news on this?

Still really doubting. I hate it that all the new cool games are being released for the 3DS (Ocarina of Time, Mario Kart 7, Resident Evil Revelations, etc). I still have the NDS Lite and I really don't care about the 3D. But I also want to play those new games but hate spending another 160 euros for a console that I already have minus 3D. Grrr. :-(

But it's 3D with better graphics.

It isn't just a DS with 3D, it is a more powerful system. Which is why it can have bigger, better looking games like Ocarina and RE Revelations. It also has a circle pad (joystick) for better control.

I don't want 3D, I only want to play the games. You can play the NDS games on the 3DS, you can't play the SNES games on the N64.

Now I feel like I have to buy the NDS again (3DS in this case) for playing the new games, only because the 3DS has the 3D feature which can be switched off. If the game can also be played without the 3D effect, then why not release the "2D" version for the NDS?

I don't expect you to understand, but now I feel like I have to new 3DS just for the new games that I can play in 2D, while they could alos have released these games for the NDS (without 3D).

I do understand, I understand you are mistaken about what the 3DS is, it isn't a DS with 3D capabilities it is a more powerful console, much like the gamecube was more powerful than the N64.....you cant play 3DS games on a DS because the normal DS isnt powerful enough to play these games in 2D.... it isnt just the same but with 3D..... I dont understand your first point about the 3DS being backwards compatible as if it is a bad thing

I thought this might happen when they decided to call it the 3DS, it shouldnt have had the DS name at all

Yep, this was one of the three big reasons the 3DS sales were so low at launch. A majority of consumers thought this was just a DS redesign.

I was on the train this morning and saw this pretty white collar looking 60-something year old actually playing a 3DS. :awesome:

So does Nintendo. They are looking for a new name for it.

yeah my 11 year old sister did too - apparently one of her friends parents bought her some 3DS games for xmas under the impression they could be played on the ds

while the name wa an obvious one it was deffo an error (hence the more recent adverts that spell out that its a new machine completely) to be honest i think they should have renamed it at some point after release

I don't think the WiiU will fail at all. If they rename it NintendoHD and market it as Nintendo "grown up" well.. Boom. I know a loooooooot of people just waiting for that.

It wouldn't be a problem if it weren't for all the variations of the original DS they made. People are able to differentiate a PS2 and a PS3 afterall. Plus, the DS brand is still relevant as the system carries on that design aspect.

Because of the number increase. Had they called the 3DS the DS2, they wouldn't have had any problems.
