Maybe she'd finally have her lines. I don't remember her speaking in Black Widow.

I'm glad we're getting more Taskmaster. Everyone always says how they don't need more of the character or want her replaced with another character becoming Taskmaster, but honestly she's such a blank slate that they could do just about anything with her now. It makes total sense for her to be a very different character when we see her again since she literally didn't have any control last time. It'd be a bit as if we'd only seen Hawkeye when he was under Loki's control and people weren't willing to see anything more from Renner as Clint as a result. It would be a huge waste of Olga Kurylenko to not let her play a version of the character with an actual personality.

I’ve seen a few online suggest that as a result of her not having that much proper social skills or interaction with people as a result of her being mind controlled by her father, now that she’s free, she can go completely in the opposite direction and become not too dissimilar from her comic counterpart, who is very banter-y and snarky.

It would be very interesting if, in contrast to her last appearance, she ends up being the most talkative and outspoken of the group.

I agree. Given the amount of in universe time that will pass between Black Widow and Thunderbolts, we're looking at 10+ years (assuming she wasn't blipped). That's plenty of time for her character to essentially get reinvented.

No way they say she gets blipped. Not only because she could use 10+ years of character development since the first movie. Also because Olga was around twice the age of the character she played lol.

At least we don't have to keep trying to pretend she's supposed to be in her early 20's. Taskmaster will be in her early 30's by the next movie which is more reasonable.

That's true, I forgot about that lol.

Will Taskmaster's face be repaired now or will she still be scarred?

The other question, Is Kurlyenko any good with comedic roles though?
Not saying she doesn't deserve another shot at the character, but can she do sarcastic and irreverent like the character should be?

I haven't seen her in a lot of roles.

But I don't want them to give her quips like most MCU characters.

But that's Taskmaster's character
I'd picture the character more sardonic than most MCU characters though
She should have a dark sense of humor and take enjoyment out of the violence

I know Taskmaster was like that in the comics and videogames.

But this Taskmaster is already drastic from the comics. From a silent robot to sarcastic quippy character is just so mcu that I don't want to see it.

Idk, I'd prefer that to her being a Silent Robot again

I hope they give her more that skeletor-look with a hood and the mask looking more like a skull

Did Crossbones even have a skull motif for his suit?

Also they literally kept the skull motif for Taskmaster, so I'm significantly confused by all this.

I liked Black Widow the movie, but they brought back so many characters from that movie (including Valerie), that Thunderbolts* just looks like a mash up of Black Widow the movie/The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, with Ghost as the odd one out and the only new face in the Mcu is Sentry*

I can't at Walker and Ghost doubling down on Taskmaster in that short clip... this take on the character really seems like a waste*

Her inclusion here just seemed all around pointless, ESPECIALLY in the marketing. She basically ended up having just as much screentime as Slipknot in Suicide Squad, if not less. It's not like Dreykov was all that much of a loose end at the end of Black Widow, she could have just quit being Taskmaster once Natasha snapped her out of it and that's it. This to me seemed like they were hitting the reset button for if/when they bring in a more comic accurate Taskmaster. As a viewer you don't even really hold a grudge against Ghost for killing her because Antonia Dreykov wasn't a character that we really cared about in Black Widow anyway.

Regardless, the MCU did Olga Kurylenko dirty but that doesn't speak to the overall quality of the movie.

What a waste.

Now I finally get why the actress didn't get to do a lot of promotional interviews. I wish she just declined this role for this movie*

As someone who has no investment in comics Taskmaster or in the version from the first Black Widow movie, I found the fake-out with Taskmaster in this film slightly amusing but also kind of confusing, because like, they obviously succeeded at their goal by making me think she'd be a main character and then being like "Ah ha! Fooled you!" and I was like "Yep, you got me good, hyuk hyuk". But I can't help but ask "Was the fake-out really worth it? Like even going through the trouble of digitally entering her into future scenes in the marketing?"

Not something I care about a whole lot but definitely kind of a peculiar decision. I'm glad they didn't wait too long before killing her off though. It's better that she was a completely throwaway character versus being one with a few minutes of characterization just so we start to get invested right before the rug is pulled out from under us.

I don't get why bother including Taskmaster in posters, and then have Sentry completely hidden in promos.

And I think what they did to Taskmaster would hurt the next time I watch the Black Widow movie. They didn't try to redeem the character at all.

I just saw this and they really did her dirty in this. I thought this was done to tease a male Taskmaster but that didnt even happen
