Atleast, there was nothing in 3 to compare to Mary-Jane's awful, "I just wanted to see Peter Parker's face one more time," speech standing on Uncle Ben''s grave; Aunt May's, "Peter, you should be Spider-Man" speech where she almost draws him a diagram; Doc Ock's repeated, "Science is for the good of mankind" sledgehammer-subtle messages; and worst of all, the cringe-worthy, "I'm standing in your doorway/Thank you, Mary-Jane Watson" exchange at the end of Spidey 2.

Maybe Raimi has been listening to our rants! My atleast.

I would rather seen more of these speeches than kids everywhere screaming: WICKED COOL! SPIDER-MAN! And so on...

Spider-man day was also frustrating

Spider-Man Day was mainly a crappy cheese festival.

The final battle's Brittish reporter, old man news guy, and stupid crowd (especially the kids) hurt the final battle alot. All that needed to be cut.

And also the stuff you mentioned from Spider-Man and Spider-Man 2 really aren't that bad. It's love. Pukey, but true.
I didn't mind them.

I wanted to hear Mary Jane's "Everything we ever were will be nothing" speech, but that got cut out. :(

That was a blatant case of Raimi putting his kids in the film for no other reason but to put his kids in the film.

Oh yeah. I forgot about that. Gwen's speech was lame.

The reporter lady was just :wow: shockingly bad. The actual anchorman in the studio - well, that's how British TV news is presented these days, pure sensationalism. So I could relate. Still crap though.

Love and romance occurs in 99% of movies, but very rarely is it handled with nauseating, over-long speeches.

Anything that comes out of MJ's mouth is typically bad. I usually brace myself for some cringe-worthy dialogue when i see MJ on screen.

The Raimi kids basically nailed the coffin shut for me with their god aweful deliveries.

So, Sandman's speech doesn't count? Or Aunt May's 'poison' speech?

Sandman's was okay as I believed the emotion of THC's delivery. I did sit there thinking, "This should feel forced and embarassing, but it isn't,"......Aunt May's poison speech was a bit too much, but toned down from her, "Peter should be Spider-Man," awfulness.

Agreed, and usually Peter's mouth too whenever she's around. I like "The thing about MJ is..." from SM1 but I think the rest of them cross the line into cheesefactory. They certainly don't ruin the movies for me though, in fact, the fact that Raimi & co. put the effort into it is what makes these so much better than the other superhero franchises. Still, I can't help but wonder how much better they could be if MJ and Peter's relationship was actually badass instead of so prepubescent needy-whiney.

I just sat there thinking, "You did not kill Uncle Ben, you lying *******. Stop it now!"

Aunt May = The Oracle
Peter = Neo

Peter/Neo: I don't understand what I am supposed to do at this point in the story.

Aunt May/Oracle: Let me explain it to you over the next five minutes in my kitchen.

lol

The speeches were toned down alot, thank God and what MJ lacked in speeches she made up in abundant selfish, pitty-party whining. SM3 was an awesome film but if the same cats and crew return, especially with the negative feedback sm3 got, I fear sm4 will once again devolve into the garbage that was sm1 and 2.

Trust me, I'd rather hear those speeches as opposed to the awkward dialogue of Bernard's scene with Harry at the end.

To the guys who complain about cheesy speeches, have you guy ever, you know, read a comic book? Cause there full of them, what else do you expect from a comic book movie?

Cheesy yet appropriate internal monologues > cheesy speeches.

What's shocking is, you actually believe your making a valid argument here. So what if you get cheesy dialogue in the comics, that is an entirely different media from film. Cheese is a requisite in comics. Besides, there's nothing wrong with a bit of cheese in the films neither, no one here is disputing that but when you're going all out on it, to the point of taking these movies to the freakin' dairy farm, then there's a problem.

How is my argument invalid? Yes film is an entirely different medium to fikm but dialouge remains the same in any medium.

LOL

I also see loads of ads for children's candy and Marvel action figures in comicbooks, should I expect those in superhero movies? Speech bubbles? What about staples?

I liked the end "speech" in SM2. That scene in the doorway worked. Those speeches didn't hurt the first two movies.

I think the reporter in the climax and Bernard plot device hurt SM3, though.

Uh no it doesn't. Try reading a kid-friendly spidey comic, by your logic, I should be expecting the same basic language in the film. I don't think so. Selective media determines it's respective expression it conveys. Think.:whatever: Also, consider spider-man movies don't always appeal to the audience comic books have.

Those speeches were fine, they're some of the best moments in those movies.

What I don't understand is that John Q. Public didn't have any issues with Spider-man 1 or Spider-man 2's dialogue. In fact, I recall alot of praises for Aunt May's Heroes speech in SM2 from the uninitiated. Why are we fans making such a big deal about it now?
