Yeah it's pretty freaky stuff, I hope the destroyers will get him but I can't be sure at this point. I really love your avvy though, can't wait for that movie :D

These are Terrorists. We should not negotiate with Terrorists.

If none of you know, read about the Barbary Wars. President Thomas Jefferson dealt with nearly exactly the same thing over 200 years ago.

I had a Picard Face Palm moment today when a co-worker asked "Pirates still exist?"

QFT. They are terrorist and they should not be negotiated with. However I think what will most likely happen is that in the next two or three days there will be an increased amount of tension between the two forces. Standing against the Navy the pirates know that they have little chance of evading capture even if they were given the ransom. They will kill the captain and flee to Somalia disbanding for several weeks or months to avoid arrest. The media will stop coverage and the pirates will return.

All that without even a single drop of rum?

I heard this morning on the radio that the lifeboat the pirates and hostage are one is dead in the water. The Captain tried to escape (jumping off and swimming like hell), but the pirates were able to drag him back.

Me, I'm just waiting for a helicopter to come in and snipe the ****ers.

Wow, Im the only person who selected choice #3!

They don't. These aren't the same fun pirates of way back when. They probably have all their limbs and there's a good chance that there's not a parrot to be seen, and it makes me sad. :csad:

The Captain got away. He started swimming toward the Navy Ship there. Then the was recaptured by the terrorist Pirates.

Why in the hell didn't the Navy do something? Why didn't they get between the pirates and the captain of the ship? Who give them an order NOT to do anything!?!

There should be more options...many more, like....the ransom will be paid and the captain killed.

As far as I know, sea laws are different and negotiating with the pirates happens regularly. It seems that in recent years (maybe months?) we're hearing about these African pirates, and they are getting ransom money. This is, of course, encouraging more attacks.

On a side note, anyone else find the poll kinda wrong? I'm not interesting in voting on this sort of discussion.

This is what I was wondering.

Where are the Navy Seals in all this? They should be lurking under the pirate's little boat, just waiting to strike at the right moment.

I say blow the ship up.

I was watching CNN. They said the Seals are heading out there. Could be out there as late as next Wednesday or they might already be there and we just know it. Because the Navy or Government won't confirm it for obvious reasons. :word:

I think this might all end with an epic sea battle. All they'll need to end things would be to summon a mighty krakken from the sea.

Krakens try their best not to involve themselves with pirates after they had that syphilis plague in the 1800's.

Oh jeez, I thought they'd patched up their differences by now. Could they at least summon a school of normal sized squid?

I really don't understand this pirate thing.

What do they do come on board with their parrots and peg legs? Why don't they call themselves terrorists instead of pirates, is it because they have muskets?
