Paddington 2 | Warner Bros. & Studiocanal

Also, this was originally supposed to be distributed by the Weinstein Company.

They dumped the film in January after the holidays and when a lot less people are going to the movies. Bad move.

Yeah. What month was the first one released? Was it popular?

Just checked, the first one was released in the US in January as well. It did better though and made $76 million domestically and $191 million overseas.

Paddington 2 was dumped?? That's news to me. The first one was also released in during the MLK weekend and WB made sure that they'll release the movie at the same time in 2018. They acquired the movie late into the game as the movie was without a distributor in North America (Studio Canal doesn't have a big presence here) because of the Weinstein situation.

WB has had to scramble to meet an 8 week window to properly market the film to the audience and they did as good a job as one could have expected from them. Maybe the humor in the movie is too niche, i.e British humor. Maybe Jumanji and TGS doing so well right nao with the family crowd is also having an effect. Plus most of the Oscar fare is going wide in the last few weeks so competition is fierce. But if the movie is so good, it shouldn't have so much trouble at finding an audience so no excuses there I mean I haven't seen such a near unanimous appreciation for any movie in recent times. I plan on watching the movie very soon and I hope it's as good as folks are hyping it up as.

I enjoyed the first one. The sequel is even better.

All the reviews praised Hugh Grant. I thought he was good and I understood why he was getting some praise due to his performance but I personally found his role a little overhyped.

The prison sequences were probably my favorite parts of the film. There were some genuine laugh out loud jokes for me in those sequences. Brendan Gleeson's grumpy guy act still hasn't old for me yet.

Enjoyed the obligatory trademark Paddington hard stare

The church of Paddington has summon you to watch both Paddington films. This is not a request. :o

I was once a doubter, but, after watching the films, no longer. I, too, now attend the Church of Paddington weekly and worship at the altar, partaking in the blessed marmalade for communion. Praise be Paddington and his great teachings.

Paddington is the one true bear king!

Winnie the Pooh, Yogi Bear, Baloo from Jungle Book, Rupert, Super Ted and Fozzie the Muppet are just pretenders to the throne.

All doubters will be met with a hard stare.
