I'm not exactly shocked that Pavement doesn't have a thread here yet, but I felt like one was needed, since they might just be the greatest/most influential indie rock band ever. What other band could effectively make fun of Stone Temple Pilots by calling them "elegant bachelors"? None. I've been in to them for a few years and had the good fortune to be able to attend one of the gigs on their reunion tour just this past weekend. So this thread is for anyone who wishes to discuss Stephen Malkmus and the boys, and to convert some new fans along the way.

I've only listened to their first two albums, and both are great. Between the two, I have a slight preference for Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain.

Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain is tied with Wowee Zowee as their best album for me. But definitely check out Wowee Zowee and Terror Twilight as well. All brilliant albums. They've never made a bad album, really.

I am only familiar with 'Slanted and Enchanted', I used to listen to that album all the time back when it came out. I had 'Crooked Rain Crooked Rain' as well, but did not get into that as much.
I have a recording off of a late night uk rock show called 'the beat' of them doing 'In the mouth, a desert', from glastonbury iirc, really great to watch, don't know if anyone has put it up on youtube. they still had that crazy guy in the band then , Gary?, who used to play percussion and hand out out toast at gigs etc.

I always hear about this band, but I never give them a listen. Liking what I hear in those videos.
