I've got enough left in the Christmas budget for one "mastered in 4K" blu ray. It's pretty slim pickings for those right now, but I have it narrowed down to (Raimi) Spider-Man 1 or 2. It's been over a decade since I've seen either, and my memory of both is kinda hazy tbh. Enjoyed both back when they hit the theater, and don't really have a sense of one being noticeably superior to the other. Maybe if one is more impressive visually that might tip the scale? (i.e., "mastered in 4K" blu ray's approximation of true 4K on a 4K set). Anyway, please make the case for the one you feel is best, or that you'd recommend in this case, etc. Thanking you in advance!

Spider-Man 2. Aside from it being the better movie, you also get the 2.1 cut as well on the blu-ray.

Spider-Man 2 because you get "Spider-Man in the title but the "2" comes free and so that's a bonus.

That's a tough call, Rog. Spider-man 2 is the slightly better film (very slight), but SM1 has origin and Spidey facing off with his arch nemesis. I would think that SM1 would be more satisfying since you can't get them both simultaneously.

Thank you to everyone, btw! Comparing the respective villains in the two films, any sense of which is better realized?

For me a CBM doesn't have to be perfectly faithful to the comic book source, FWIW.

IIRC Willem Dafoe was appropriately creepy for Green Goblin. I remember not quite having the same reaction to Doc Oc, although again it's been a long time. Maybe I should watch a couple of You Tube videos from the film to jog my memory.

I remember not liking 1 when it first came out, to the point where I didn't bother to see 2 when it came out... I didn't see 2 til years later when I caught it on TV. It was better then the first, but, I still didn't care for the universe as a whole...

but, it was enough to get me excited about 3 when I heard about it, and that's when I found these forums, and started to follow production of the movie

I will say, in some ways I actually enjoyed 3 the best (part, due to my experience of following it from the start and the fun discussions I had here about it) that an as I said I didn't really like the universe established by 1, an found that 3 had a vastly different feel to it (which ironically is the main reason a lot of people hate on the movie so much)

I am sorry what was the question, again?

@Spider-Fan83 thanks, I probably shouldn't rule out Spider-Man 3. I actually never saw it. (It's the only Spidey film I haven't.) I appreciate a number of films that many fans often trash. I have my own reasons for liking them. They're all flawed films (in some cases seriously) but the things I do like outweigh the things I don't: Daredevil, I, Frankenstein, and Fantastic Four for example. But anyway maybe I'll check 3 out eventually.

This thread's posts, and the poll results, might help you decide the answer to that one; http://forums.superherohype.com/showthread.php?t=343926
