As a writer myself who watches Faaaaaaaaaar Faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrr too much TV, I've began to notice there are very few programmes, soaps or dramas alike that I watch, that I can't quite accurately predict whats going to happen and see most of the plot twists coming miles before they happen.

I don't know if it's where I'm trying to learn to think more structurally, if TVs getting more and more predictable, or if I've just seen so much rubbish on TV that there really aren't any new stories or suprise twists that arent cliched anymore.

Anyone else finding this?
Im really starting to annoy my mates and family when I keep telling them whats going to happen whenever they watch TV.

I agree mostly with what you said. I think it's very hard to become innovative with story arcs that have precognitions. Some series, like Heroes have used it with good effect though. Isaac is a painter who paints standstill images instead of a moving scene...which keeps it open for interpretation.

Watch Lost.

Yeah, ive been keeping up with Lost.. but even with that show, Series 3 has all been pretty obvious so far... The last episode was a big improvement with Desmond, but you still knew how the ep would end 20 minutes in to it.

Then stop watching so much tv, turn on your DVD player and start watching badass old Hitchcock movies, or something of the sort.:dry:

I don't know about predicting plots in shows I've never seen, but I find that more often than not, I'll think of an episode of some TV show, and later tune in to find THAT episode is on . . . . no BS . . . this ever happen to anyone else?
