Proof that the green hornet won't be a "comedy"

It doesn't take much to know GH is a serious character. I mean, he was never super dark super violent creature of the night. But he's serious and stern. He's not Seth Rogen. At least, that's what a lot of people are thinking and why they're saying such things. I like what I'm seeing and hearing...so far. So as a big GH fan I'll give Rogen a chance because....what the hell else can I do?
Well, I don't see why even a serious and stern person can't have a sense of humor, in this case while he's NOT beating up bad guys. Even Spider-Man, jokester that he is, has serious and stern moments. Iron Man in the movie was serious and stern when he was blowing up terrorists, but when he was talking to Rhodey he was joking around.

It's still WAY too soon to tell how Rogen and Gondry are truly gonna sell the character. Like you said, what else are we gonna do

Agreed, but I'd say as far as personality goes, GH is close to Batman. Calm, collected, and intimidating. Spidey and even Iron Man(well, Stark at least) are known for their sense of humor or wisecracks. Batman, Daredevil, and Punisher don't go around teasing criminals with jokes. They get to business. As does Green Hornet. I could see the people around him having humor because it would still pay respect to the character, but I guess they wouldn't hire a comedian to play GH if he wasn't supposed to be funny, would they?

We need a teaser. Somethin'!

One 'Dude' out of Rogen's 'Brit Reid' and it's over.

I'm sorry but I was hoping for something more akin to a big budget version of Van Williams and Bruce Lee .... if this doesn't deliver that, it's dead in the water.

You`re livin in the past my friend. That kind of Green Hornet has been done before. Now I definatley dont want to see a comedy or a spoof with this GH movie but I`m totally cool if the film gives off a different tone than the tv series. And ya know what even if this movie does flop or turns out to be a disaster I will NEVER say that it was a mistake no matter how bad it is because despite all that its something to keep the franchise alive and introducing a comic book character that someone might not heard of before.

Looks like another tsunami warning's gonna be issued in Asia. What with the centrifugal forces generated by Bruce Lee spinning in his grave. There better be a damn good reason why Jet Lee and/or Tony Jaa are notin this.

Un****ingbelievable.

So what exactly are YOU saying?

That the Van Williams version of the character - a serious, no-nonsense take on a character who poses as an underworld criminal to stop real underworld criminals and corrupt businessmen/officials is an out-of-date concept?

Rogen may surprise everyone and give us something akin to that but I'm very skeptical. I'll be paying close attention to any leaks from the studios.

No not at all an out of date concept but you seem to be on the perspective that its impossible to deliver anything other than a Van Williams type take on GH and thats so not true. Look at B89 and then BB- Batman is the same character but different take in those films. And your skeptical approach almost seems closed minded. Like i said before whether it turns out good or not it keeps the character alive, known and relevant even if this movie turns out bad.

Cool that you're a big Green Hornet fan. I like the old Van Williams/ Bruce Lee series of course but I remember some of the comics from the late 80's early 90's....esp. when they debuted the female Kato...I think Now Comics put those out or one of the old indy companies, great books. I always liked those heros in the GH vein, a regular guy with a mask, his fists, street smarts and a few gimmicks. Great character. That said I'm not a fan of Rogen's schtick at all. Seth Rogen is NOT Green Hornet. as much as i would like to see a GH movie done right...Seth Rogen??? I can't imagine not thinking they cast the wrong guy....

My sentiments exactly.....

Hello all: I'm new to this, so forgive me if this question has already been answered. Is there an official U.S. release date yet. i loved the tv series from the 60's, and the Now Comics series in the late 90's. I'm very optimistic about this movie! Best regards, Madelow.:yay:

i personally love the radio show more... just because it had better plots!

Hello Octoberist & all: Thanks for the update! That will be the high point of the Christmas season for me. I'm also apprehensive about the casting, but hope for an exciting and serious treatment. This seems to be the place for accurate information. Looking forward to your future posts. Best regards, Madelow.

i just saw the trailer, looks like comedy to me.

Im guessing rogen fcks things up and kato cleans rogens sht.

I think it's going to be a combination of serious and comedy, maybe a bit more comedic sides than seriousness.
