World Question about STM in collector 14 disc set

I don't know if this has been brought up and I don't have time to search old threads but here goes:

Disc 1 (Superman original 1978 theatrical cut)
Disc 2 (Superman extended 2001 cut)

Now I was comparing both discs and noticed that disc 2 doesn't seem to be transferred properly since Superman's colors seem to be washed out and not as bright as on disc 1, anyone notice this?

I think one of them was downconverted from HD. But I'm no expert (I read it elsewhere).
