There have been signs of life (talks) of a new animated series coming to cable for years (04, 07, and 09), but zlich has commenced or been presented. Is it over for Todd and Spawn?

I remember a teaser promo for it in like 2006 or something. Those were the days :)

I havent heard anything about it since so I'd declare it dead as a doornail sadly.

The HBO series is awesome tho so pick that one up asap if you havent!

That's depressing. :( I feel that Spawn is severely underrated.

Oh yes, I've picked it up.

Keith David as Spawn was one of the greatest voice acting performances... ever! Pure gold.

Spawn was (maybe still is, haven't collected in over a decade) a great comic series. The HBO cartoon I thought was okay but I was not a fan of the animation style. I hope if they ever restart they begin again and make a different cartoon style.

Yeah, for the last 3 years i've been waiting for it to make any sign of life

I think the same way. Spawn was, and in some ways still is, one of most outstanding comics series of all time. Shame it's peaked but the comics are still entertaining.

The animation for the show could have been better but that was the least of the show's problems.

I hate being in the dark on this. I desperately want another show or film, but my gut is telling me that we won't be seeing anything Spawn related on the tube or big screen for a long time.

I'd also love to see this happen. This and The Darkness and Witchblade all having adaptions of the comic material would be really cool.

Didn't Witchblade have a tv show four years ago? I don't know if I dreamt it, but I remember someone mentioning a Witchblade series.

It actually had two series (one live action the other anime) and both where rather loosely based on the comic series. I would love to have something a bit more accurate to the source material though know what I mean?

Bingo! Now I remember catching the live-action series. I only caught a few episodes but I suppose I stopped watching because of that reason. Totally, I don't like the modified versions, in general.

Yeah I don't mind them taking a few liberties I actually enjoyed both (in an alternate reality sort of way) but they didn't really honor what made them able to make the shows in the first place so it got infuriating after a while. The anime messed up far more than the live-action version though.

Maybe the video game will get it right.

I think it was in 2006, but McFarlane was having a huge new line of toys being released, and was doing a signing at the Toys'R'Us in Times Square. I asked the exact same question about the new series, when I saw a teaser drawing on the internet. He told me that he was still interested in doing a slew of things, such as a Sam & Twitch TV series, another Spawn film, and of course, a new animated series. He said that it was still in the early stages and haven't shopped the project to any networks.

That was five years ago.

Understandable. Great storytellers in Nolan, Abrams, and Spielberg have modified aspects of an of arc when coming to adaptations. However, completely changing/reinventing a character(s) and the arc is a no-no. Really? Thank Shiva I did not catch the anime then.

Let's hope so.

It's always depressing to see the time table. :(

I've been waiting for a new film and/or new animated series for awhile, and the fact that no one has heard anything from Todd in recent times is beyond downcasting.

It did and I wanted to see it but was working at the time and had no VCR. It was cancelled because Yancy Butler apparently had some kind of fit or tantrum on set after being drunk and got fired.

Jeez, no wonder the show was cancelled...

Not sure if the budget would permit it, but i think Spawn would serve better as a Netflix series.

I agree the only way this would work is on a Netflix Platform. Its either that or HBO, Starz, or Encore.
