I'm writing this because I know a few guys around here like KAL were pretty good friends with Blas Villalonga, aka Gammy around these parts.

Blas tragically lost his battle with cancer on Saturday April 23. He had been diagnosed back in December and was led to believe that given a short stay in hosptial he'd make a full recovery. Around a month ago his friends at Titanium Groceries and elsewhere were ready to welcome him back, having made that recovery after his last chemotherapy session. He fell off the grid shortly after and we were all concerned.

We'd heard that he'd passed over the weekend, but his sister confirmed today via Facebook. She wrote: "I'm Blas's sister, my beloved brother passed away last saturday 23 april 11, I want to thank you all for your support, love, good wishes and blessings you always gave to him, and you can still give him that."

Again, I thought it was important that a few of you knew. He was a great friend to a lot of us and he will be greatly missed.

We love you Blas and we all miss you.

I have known Blas for many years now. We first met here on the hype where we became friends due to our shared love of games, Kung-Fu movies and hot Asian women.

Blas was, without a doubt, the single most amazing person I have had the privilege to meet. He had an amazing enthusiasm for life and the way he embraced new things was incredible.

Blas helped me out quite a bit during my own struggle with serious illness a few years ago and again last year when I took a turn for the worse. No matter how bad things got I knew that by the end of the day there would be a txt from him to cheer me up.

It's going to take a long time for this news to sink in. It already hurts like hell.

Blas, I'll miss you more than you will ever know. Life just wont be the same without you aroundl. I'll see you again one day hermano.

Wow. Stunned. i didnt have too much interaction with him here, but when i did, it was always pleasant. That sucks to hear. Rest In Peace.

I just wanted to add that even though I never met Blas face to face, I always considered him to be a friend and to be one of the nicest people I have ever encountered. He was such an upbeat person and I loved how he always brought such a positive attitude through everyone of his posts. I'm going to miss his constant mentioning of how he loved Asian women (we both had a thing for Asians) and his recommendations of comics I should read. Every time I read a copy of Daredevil, Iron Fist, and the Punisher or a hardcover of Invincible, I'm going to think of you man. I'm going to miss his little quirks like D: or *hugsies. But most of all, I'm really going to miss the fact that the world is without one awesome person.

I didn't really know Blas well, RIP bro, you're in a better place. Condolences to his family :(

RIP, I never realized his actual name was Blas, I thought it was some inside joke, haha. He was a cool guy, shall be missed. RIP, man.

This shocked me like hell when I heard. I've had almost a full day to process this, and it's still unbelievable. Devastating is an understatement.

I really regret not keeping in touch with him, and when I heard the news it hit me pretty hard. I remember playing Call of Duty 2 with him back in the day, what a bummer. That cancer is a bastard.

I'm devastated. I always read his threads with great joy. He was an amazing person.

And to think I was just biching about small time everyday grievances this morning. Makes you think.

R.I.P. Blas you will be missed.

Whaaat? Wow, I didn't know him outside of the boards or talk to him much here, but I remember him as part of the "old school" hype and have fond memories of those times. That's really terrible to hear. I wish his family the best.

This is such sad news, even though i hadn't spoken to him for a while now, i regret not doing so...such a horrible thing to happen to such a nice guy.He had helped me with a lot and introduced me to so much more. Rest in peace Hermano x

I never knew him,but he sounded like a real nice person. Very tragic. Rest In Peace.

Someone needs to post some hot buxom asian chicks in his honor. :(

I don't check this forum that often but i'm glad i did so that it's not to long after the fact that i can say RIP Blas

I talked to him once or twice maybe on these boards and each time was a real pleasure.

RIP guy.

Blas (Gammy79) was a great dude. I'll always remember him for his excitement for Dead Rising when it was announced. He showed me over to the GR forums long ago, and after that we had a few conversations about various games.

In his honor, this was his most used smiley.

I used to talk to him a bit (kinda stopped when I was hanging around other sections) and friended him on Xbox Live. I remember he had an avatar of GOB's Final Countdown dance. I'm very sad to hear he passed away :csad:

I feel terrible that I just noticed this. I truly considered Blas a friend and this news is just horrible. He and his family will be in my prayers. We lost a good one.

R.I.P. Blas :( I never knew him around here, but it's sad he passed and at such a young age. I wish his family and friends the best during these hard times :(

Always sad when anyone passes. Saddness is multiplied when you've come in contact with them. RIP Blas. :(
