Proves my point that I don't care about you enough, ey, Darthsky.

Please can the nerd fight and discuss the movie civilly.

The way I look at it is:

The Amazing Spider-Man is probably a better Spider-Man film than the Raimi trilogy, even if it isn't a better film.

1. Spider-Man
2. Spider-Man 2
3. Amazing Spider-Man
4. Spider-Man 3

1. Spider-Man 2 - 10 (Masterpiece unmatched and still holds up to this day with the other great marvel films from Marvel Studios)
2. Spider-Man - 9/10 (Epic)
3. The Amazing Spider-Man -5/10 (Good not great)
4. Spider-Man 3 -8/10 (So much untapped potential it wasn't horrible like "Batman & Robin", Superman 3, or an abomination like "Hulk" and FF series, Daredevil, Ghost Rider & the atrocity know as X-men 3. But the direction of the story and overall cramming of plot points and villains ruined the film IMO. I still enjoy watching it and wished to God the series had continued.)

TASM - 9/10 - This was the spiderman I have been waiting to see. Perfect? No. But still 'amazing' regardless.

Spider-Man 1 - 7/10 - This film gave me the chance to see spidey on the big screen. But overall, not a great flick.

Spider-Man 2 - 6/10 - The train sequence, The bank sequence, JJ, Doc Ock (when Bad) are the highlights of the film. The whole MJ/Pete stuff TRULY brings this film down. Just average IMO.

Spider-Man 3 - 5/10 - Too much going on. Even if Venom wasn't brought in, I don't think it would have been too much better. Add to that the emo dance and Sandman being uncle bens killer... argh.

Spider-man 2 (8-9/10)
ASM and Spider-man 1 (7/10)
Spider-man 3 (6/10)

I think it's quite the opposite. Raimi's movies were comic-booky while TASM felt real.

Haven't seen the new movie yet but it looks really great in terms of more Spidey action & eye candy overall.

IMO, The Raimi Spider-Man movies were really good/great for their time but only limited by the story or cgi of the time. If only Raimi had access to the technology of today for the original trilogy back then who knows how much better they would have turned out.

For me, if he still wanted them to play out as they have done, then I still don't think they'd have lasted well for me.

1.) Spider-Man 2 (5/5)

2.) TASM (4.5/5)

3.) Spider-Man (3/5)

4.) Spider-Man 3 (2.5/5)

Ajendo...remember our bet?

I sure do!

I'm glad you remembered. Have you seen the movie yet? If so, link me to your review. Posting on here via smart phone and it's a hassle.

I'm SO happy to report my new rankings:

1.) TASM - 8.5/10
2.) Spider-Man 2 - 8/10
3.) Spider-Man - 7/10
4.) Spider-Man 3 - 5/10

While I was expecting it to be pretty darn good, I still honestly expected TASM to fall in between SM2 and SM1, so this was a pleasant surprise for me.

Spider-Man 2 - 9/10
Spider-Man - 8/10
The Amazing Spider-Man - 7/10
Spider-Man 3 - 6/10

Did not think it would go down like clockwork like that, haha.
For your usual reaction to this movie, this score is kinda high, lol

Out of curiosity, why do you think TASM is the best? As a fan, I can see why people prefer this interpretation, but personally the movie doesn't really have the energy or scope of Raimi's first two.

I guess I am asking if you ignore faithfulness, why do you think TASM is a better made film? Just curious.

For me
1)S-M 2, 10/10
2)TAS-M, 9/10
3)S-M 3, 8/10
4)S-M, 6/10

Frankly, this movie falls short of all three of Raimi's efforts. I love the character so I don't hate any of the efforts but ASM is very mediocre as a film.

Saw ASM late afternoon and as luck would have it was home flipping the channels and saw SM3 on FX. I stopped and rewatched some of that and there's no doubt that even Spider-Man 3 is the better all around film. I've always said that SM3 is an overcrowded film but it certainly has its moments. Besides far better action sequences, SM3 has more emotional impact and truly stand out moments. Sure, it also has "stub your toe" moments but the good outweighs the bad. Amazing Spider-Man has many monotone moments with a bit of heart sprinkled in. Nothing seems deep or really hits home. Even Uncle Ben's demise falls terribly flat and it's almost glossed over. SM3 swung for the fences and served up some tasty treats and some sours ones as well. This movie feels phoned in and serves up vanilla everything.

SM1 = 8/10
SM2 = 10/10
SM3 = 7/10 (strong)
ASM = 7/10 (weak)

If its mediocre as a film, technically you should rate it a 5. :o

It's probably a 6/10 but I just can't rank Spidey that low when the film isn't bad. I love the character too much. It's a thumbs up but that's my heart and not my head talking.

Spider-Man 3/5
Spider-Man 2 4/5
Spider-Man 3 1.5/5
The Amazing Spider-Man 3.5/5

This.

I'm glad ASM is getting such positive reviews from fans and critics alike, but as a lifelong Spidey-fan I couldn't help but feel a bit indifferent as I left the theater.

My ratings from before I believe were:

SM1 9/10
SM2 10/10
SM3 6.5/10

so now that I've seen TASM

7/10

It's certainly better than SM3, which just was sort of a jumbled mess. TASM is a jumbled mess of sorts as well, but it's better acted, and not as much of a downer as SM3. My biggest problem with SM3 is I was not only let down by the plot, but the ending was just so weird.
