After seeing 'translater for Mr Chang' on the tmnt imdb.. I figured that it was gonnab some sort of plot twist to reveal Krang. fter doin a bit of research I found out that the robot krang lived in in the tmht cartoons is actually called chang.. so i'm expecting krang to appear as a plot twist or even an after credits scene atleast

They also list K. Todd Freeman as Dr. Baxter Stockman and hostages on IMDB, has Stockman ever been confirmed and I wonder what the hostage situation is about.

I think it's strange that Aprils father isn't in the cast list... or Yoshi, just splinter. this is making me dread the splinter/april father theories a bit more.

although i'm also full sure that they will go the reincarnation route which would end up making april kinda like the tmnts sister if they made splinter her father also.

Gosh... that would be incredibly dumb.

If they did go with that idea, I would want Robert Downey Jr. to pop out and say:

I like reincarnation...I don't understand what you or anyone else has against it. You don't like it because you don't believe in it? I don't either but certain cultures and religions do so I'm not going to bash it. It works well in the comics

Yeah I love the reincarnation route to. it's the only way to go now I think... especially with the American shredder dilemma etc. it makes much more sense as I don't think a ninja origin will work with the modern world now unless it's going waaaayy back. The reincarnation route doesn't even insult the original origin, it just fleshes it up which I find fascinating.

'and not to go off topic and not saying I necessarily believe in reincarnation.. but you should check out the work of dr. ian stevens who came up with scientific evidence of reincarnation. it's interesting stuff'

Um...that's never happened in any version.

Sorry.

Yeah after doing a quick Google search I couldn't find anything that said the robotic Krang body was called Chang....

How in the hell would April being the Turtles' sister work? How or why is it remotely acceptable to have April and her father be tied to the Turtles ala possibly having her father be none other than Splinter?

That's what I have a problem with. The whole thought of both ideas makes me cringe. I'm not against the scroll showing that ancient creatures defeated the Shredder's army years ago and now years later Oroku Saki has taken up the mask and armor in honor of his ancestral blood and wants to turn the Foot Clan into a better, stronger force, but having a white man obsessed with the culture let alone being involved in the Turtles origin along with many other things that bug me with the route they are going with this film is like having too many cooks in the kitchen adding too many ingredients into the pot.

It's not rocket science to tell the TMNT's origin story as it was written or follow the source material but then again with Bay and Liebsman, we were never really given rocket scientists.... :csad:

Walt Bickle is right. I typed in Krang Body name, and this is the first thing that came up

http://www.classicarticulation.blogspot.co.uk/2009/01/krang-my-man.html

So, can anyone produce a reliable source on this information?

I need to start keeping a list of all the people who say they're certain the movie is going to go the reincarnation route, so I can see if they express any disappointment when the film doesn't do it. There's been absolutely zero indication they are going anywhere near that origin, and they've expressed every intention of going into new territory with this plot.

Thanks man!

that article is from 2009.. coincidence maybe... but i'm not saying i'm right.. just speculating.

well no indication because that would be a spoiler now wouldn't it. I don't know why you think there is zero indication when we have a scroll of ancestral turtles and maybe utroms and chang etc... and an American shredder who seems to be into the whole history of it...

I heard they were taking the best of everything from the franchise to make it work, and even if they did express going new territory with it the reincarnation origin has never been done on film or tv,so to the GA this will be new territory.

How exactly do turtles in ancient Japan support the reincarnation origin? That origin was four human brothers who were reincarnated as turtles. If the scroll is of their previous lives, then we're to believe they were born as humans or turtles and mutated in two separate lives, which is already deviating quite a bit, and we know practically nothing about the movie. Also, I believe you're referencing a certain Eastman video which was misquoted several times on this forum. Eastman said this movie took the same approach toward reinventing the turtles as they did in other retellings, he didn't say they used any part of those other versions. Basically, he was saying "This isn't the first time we've changed things, guys. Remember that plenty of versions of the turtles that you all love took plenty of liberties, too."

ofcourse they are going to deviate. it's a movie adaptation. shredder wasn't American in the idw comics either. i'm not saying they are going to copy everything exactly, I think there going to use that idea and do there own thing with it... if they are not well then screw them for making shredder American for no reason..

and re: how does the scroll support the reincarnation origin... maybe they weren't turtles in the ancient times.. maybe there was a prophecy that turtles would take down the foot... they should def use reincarnation to make the story more personal and to streamline.. it's the way to go. the original origin doesn't work in the modern world no matter how you swing it

Don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking the reincarnation angle. I haven't read those comics yet myself, but it's an interesting idea with a lot of potential, and it helps keep a connection to Splinter and Shredder's Japanese roots despite the original story being based heavily around a somewhat outdated view of Japan, full of ninjas and samurai. I'm just saying that it seems silly that so many people are acting as though we can be anywhere near certain that the movie will do that story. Right now it's about as far-reaching a theory as the "Splinter is April's father" theory, both being ideas that are less based on anything we've seen or heard and more just people trying to figure out a puzzle when they only have the edge pieces. I'm not even saying the film definitely won't go there, I just think that theory is about as valid as any other. I mean, that scroll actually would fit perfectly with the Blue Door script, with a race of alien turtles in an ancient war against the Utrom in a parallel dimension that can cross over into our own. It's all pure speculation right now.

yeah exactly, and yeah maybe I am seeing indications to the reincarnation route because i'm looking for it and really want it.. It just works so well for all of the reasons you've just mentioned above and that I will actually be gutted if oraku saki is written out of this movie and we are left with just some Americanised version of him

what i've read is the rumor splinter might be aprils father? so a rat is the father of fox?

I NEVER said I was in favor of April's dad being Splinter....in fact I hate the idea. I am however in favor of reincarnation...

well so says a blog...no where in TMNTPedia or any Wikipedia or any other official website have I seen anything that mentions the body of Krang being called Chang. Maybe I just missed it, but I'm pretty sure I didn't. I also don't recall it ever being referred to as Chang in the comics or the tv show. But I haven't watched the entire series in a while so my memory isn't that great

As long as krangs not actually shredder ala the 200x series I'll be happy. But I really feel that's the way they'll go
