After watching this movie, I kept thinking that they needed to refine Snake Eye's costume. The loose pants witht he rubber top just seemed awkward. Also It felt like the Visor was too large. I think part of it is Ray Park's Physique. In no way shape or form is he out of shape but rather shorter than I think Snake's is.

Ways to fix this in clude adding the knee and elbow pads(or something to that effect to tighten up the pants look and tuck the pant into a boot. Also I think the sweater look would suit him well. Just my opinion, but please remove the mouth and shrink the visor.

if anyone can post costume conecpts to discuss feel free.

Get rid of the ****ing lips.

The top part of his outfit shouldn't necessarily be rubber, neoprene whatever. It could be made out of some cloth or padded material.

Basically, look at the outfit for the Sideshow 12 inch action figure, more like that.

I don't mind the lips. They were fine. I don't get why people are making such a big deal about it. It made him seem more human and not like a voiceless killing robot. And before you jump all over me, I am a big fan of the comics and cartoon. Chill. Also, I saw some manips of SE with the lips removed, and with the visor being black instead of silver, he looks a LOT like Gort from The Day The Earth Stood Still. Which came on tv around the time ROC was released.

For the sequel, I'd like to see him wear a Resolute/City Strike costume, except with the visor. Give him a more commando feel. It just looks perfect. Otherwise, he looks fine to me.

This is the excuse the costume designer used. But it doesn't make any sense. How did it make him seem more human? He's in costume and wears a mask the entire time. He was a fairly one note and one dimensional character in the movie. What was more human about the lips?

Those don't have lips either.

The presence of a face helps the audience differentiate Snake Eyes from the enemy Vipers.

To me he at least seemed more human.

I know the Resolute SE didn't have lips, I never said he did.

I think Resolute did the best job of taking the Joes and putting them into our world. Resolute Snake Eyes would have been awesome for the film.

heres some manips I did of a more V1 inspired Snake Eyes

I'd only get rid of the rubber top with the fake muscles and lips. Make him look like in G.I. Joe Resolute.

Yeah, as the thread starter said it didnt quite match with the baggy pants, just give him a normal combat top.

I think the skin tight sits from the comic do not transfer well. Take Spider-Man for instance, in the second movie you could tell when the people were lifting him off the train that he had padding. with Snakes, the rubber top looks dumb especialy with the baggy pants. I feel the should add knee pads and tuck the pant leg into the boot, but maybe add a sort of shin guard to diffferentiate from a normal boot. Also make the top a sort of sweateror gi with elbow pads to fill it out more. Also the visor is way too larger. Resolute had one of the best versons of his costume that can be done in a reasonable way at least in live action.

Remember those Vampires in the Ninja suits in Blade II? That's the material they should use for his mask and top.

Why do people have an issue with the lips?? The V2 fig had lips through the mask. How else was he supposed to breathe when fighting and whatnot

I think the biggest issue with the lips was that they just looked a bit silly and unnatural more than anything.

Thats the only reason I would want them removed.

It's like asking what's wrong with bat nipples.

A costume based on the Resolute design would work for me. I would revamp not only his costume, but his entire character. He wouldn't wear his mask all the time. He wouldn't be a total mute. He would just be extremely reserved and soft-spoken. He wouldn't talk about his past. If any of the other Joe's knows about his past, they're not going to discuss it. No flashbacks. He'd still be a total mystery, aside from a few subtle clues, as well as hints provided by Storm Shadow.

I'd have his face get mangled and voice box destroyed in sequel while trying to protect Scarlett.

Realy, which scene's?

in a few scenes at the Pit - the first time I think is when they are searching for The Baroness on the computer screens and he is sat down with Scarlett resting on him

He has a material mask+top and shades

Watch the dvd with the commentary on and they point it out and explain it.

 Hope they do it in the sequel, now that Storm Shadow is 'dead' there is really no need for the vow of silence.

Aaahhh, will have to look out for it, havent noticed before, thanks.

You guys do realize that the Resolute design is more or less what we got... a rubber top with loose, combat trousers. Take a careful look at it. Aside from a stylized art form (vs live action) and the molded lips, how is this significantly different from the movie version?

With that in mind, let's look at other possible sources:

Given the 'Sigma 6'-esque design of the Accelerator Suits, Snake Eyes could just as easily gotten away with a similar design. Something like this. However, the 'problem' with this design is that it might imply that his suit as what's making him so 'badass' (If you look carefully, he's the only Joe who fights without one).

On the other hand, we ought to take Ray Park himself into account. There's no denying it; Ray Park is quite beefy and generally broader built than your 'muscular' actors who have more sculpted builds. He's the kind of guy whose muscles actually make an impression on thin enough shirts (as seen in the pic).

With that in mind, what I think would best work is something along the lines of this:

A ski mask/balaclava with an attached visor and a thin, long-sleeved turtleneck similar to this. Let his natural build handle the musculature. There's no need for rubber muscles. For trousers, just tuck his combat trousers into his boots 'military-style' and some knee pads to help define his legs better if need be. Finally, strap a scabbard to his back (maybe with a λ pattern to allow space for small pouches/sidearm/blade/grenades on the offshoot strap) and you should be all set.
