Refine Snake Eye's Costume

It was similar but overly cheesed up for the movie character. His pants looked more like something he'd wear to go clubbing. The top was very plastic/rubbery and the visor doesn't work in the real world environment. The mouth was also a no no.

They should have gone with regular black fatigue pants and something like Under Armor for the top and he can go turtleneck/pullover for the colder climates. Go with the almost sunglass style goggles of Resolute which are also more practical. Then a face-mask similar to tactical teams that need to hide their identities. Just a stretch material so breathing isn't a problem, their is movement, no stupid lips, etc. That would already have made a world of difference.

Ray Park is awesome though, I never had an issue with him. Just the character design. I would hope for some positive changes in the next installment.

A costume based on the Resolute design would work for me. I would revamp not only his costume, but his entire character. He wouldn't wear his mask all the time. He wouldn't be a total mute. He would just be extremely reserved and soft-spoken. He wouldn't talk about his past. If any of the other Joe's knows about his past, they're not going to discuss it. No flashbacks. He'd still be a total mystery, aside from a few subtle clues, as well as hints provided by Storm Shadow.

So, basically, you don't want SE at all. No offence, but that is the stupidest idea I've ever heard in regards to GI Joe. SE not being a mute? That's ridiculous.

IMO, just take the pic of SE from Resolute a few posts back, put the sword on his back, add a visor, and voila. Perfect SE.

But the Resolute design is nearly identical to the movie design. Seriously, take a look at them side-to-side and tell me how they significantly differ other than the mask. The bulkiness of the movie version is due to Ray Park's actual build.

You guys do realize that the Resolute design is more or less what we got... a rubber top with loose, combat trousers. Take a careful look at it. Aside from a stylized art form (vs live action) and the molded lips, how is this significantly different from the movie version?

You're right. What I meant to say was that TheVileOne's recommendation would work perfectly. I wasn't thinking of Resolute, but rather a pic of the Sideshow action figure.

The most important thing is making him a mysterious character and a complete badass. It's not necessary for him to be total mute. His original filecard says that he's a "total mystery." It doesn't say that he can't or won't speak.

I personally just think the manips on the 1st page are pretty much spot on and would make Snake Eyes look awesome on screen. This is one time if any the crew need to listen to the fans.

in a few scenes at the Pit - the first time I think is when they are searching for The Baroness on the computer screens and he is sat down with Scarlett resting on him

He has a material mask+top and shades

Watch the dvd with the commentary on and they point it out and explain it.

I thought I saw that too. I did like that look a lot better.

looks more like a skin tight lycra black millitary top with pad on it. like ripcord and duke were wearing in the training montage

I think THAT is the point. As they say, the devil is in the details. Snake Eyes and his look has to be dead on to work. As a character who does not speak, everything he conveys is visually expressed. That being the case, if his look (especially the mask) is off or suffers from a poor design it just does not work and kills the character, even for non-fans.

Even though ther is some nostalgia for me considering Flash, Snake Eyes, Stalker and a couple of Cobra troops were my very first G.I. Joe toys. I love the 1985 louver visor look in the comics and in animation. For live action though, the original 1982 concept for the character as a starting point is a much better and practical design choice IMO.

As I see it the Resolute take as fusion design is about as good as it gets when you are looking at an abatable film version of Snake Eyes.

Still the choice of materials and textures used to make the costume and how they come across of film (details again) will make or break this as well.

Thing in Resolute, its not this rubber/plastic top. It looks more like a form fitting fabric shirt. Note the creases on the arm its more like a fabric than a rubber.
