Remember school lunches?

I have vague memories of funky tasting chocolate milk.
But the tater tots ruled. :csad:

Here's what they're serving this month
I hated tater tots...I gave them all away...the worst school lunch was possibly the mexican pizza....all those nasty meatballs :down
The cafetarians though, suck. I remeber it was speghetti and meatball day...I asked for speghetti but I asked if I could not have meat sauce and she goes NO!!you eat meat!! and smacks a scoop on my tray :csad:

Are you kidding? Luchables are the most putrid idea ever.
Psssh :o...Lunchables were friggin sweet. Especially the mega ones with the little soda and pepperoni

They had these things called pizza o's at my school. Talk about nasty...a thin piece of bread shaped like a bowl filled with nothing but nasty tomato sauce and cheese, sliminess, bleh.

In my old school the turkey gravy was a soupy yellow slime that was to make the dry turkey taste better.

I liked the cardboard box shaped pizza. Not the best, but it was eatable and not bad. It was okay.

It depends on the grade. When I was in Elementary school the school lunch was AWESOME! I guess since its little kids the lunch ladies actually have a conscience for a change! But, once you get to middle/junior and high school that when everything goes down hill. Thank God that in high school we had off-campus lunch. So, I didn't really suffer in high school. But, middle school was a different story. :(

I remeber sloppy joes...yuck. And I remeber how you had to squeze this cow teet looking thing to get ketchup...it was so embarassing :csad:
...and how people smacked their mouthes to "savor" the taste

Did any of you have off-campus lunch in high school? If so, whats with the complain? Middle school were the only three years with bad school lunch. In Elementary school the lunch ladies had a conscience and served you something good. And, if you hated the lunch you could have always brought your lunch box with a snack from home. :)

Kids these days, however, have it bad. Many states are getting rid of the off-campus lunch for security reasons and, of course, the budget is REALLY bad. So, I think kids have it worse these days.

My highschool was right across the street from Johnson and Wales, a cooking college, so yeah there was some great great food.

Yeah um...I only got off-campus lunch freshman year (no car rides for me except from my sister...after school). After that the school had close campus lunch :(
So now we're stuck with nasty foods...including the bean burritos with a strip of american cheese and the mexican pizza :csad:

During which years did you attend high school? Cause I know that everything changed after 9/11. I graduated in 2000 and I know (from friends, family, and the news) that a year later everything changed cause of 9/11. In fact, many states are getting rid of off-campus lunch for security reasons.

When I was in high school freshmens couldn't leave campus (we did anyway) but sophmore, juniors, and seniors could.

My school cafeteria is all right. I only buy iced tea from there though, in a bottle, because it costs like, 25 cents less than when I buy it outside. But their pizza is like, rock hard and the only thing that's all right to eat would be the fries and maybe a beef patty. :o
