The problem with hydrophobia is that it just didn't look interesting.
It looked like a lower quility AAA game rather than a creative indie game. Beyond water, what was the lure? Nothing.
 
They made Hydrophobia which I don't think anyone really thought was good, then they updated it to fix the problems, then they re-released it with more stuff. I think spending 3 years developing a mediocre game and then another year trying anything to get people to buy it again, is a good way to not make money and have to close your studio.

Shame for the people out of work, but it's really not surprising.
 
Didn't they re-release the thing...with updates, and add-ons or time trials...but ultimately re-release the game like four or five times?

It's always seemed like everytime I logged onto XBL or PSN, some new version of Hydrophobia (and not a sequel) was being released.
