"Blu (Jesse Eisenberg) is a rare species of blue macaw resident at a bookstore in Minnesota, who is the last of his kind. When scientists learn that another macaw was spotted in South America, and that the macaw, Jewel (Anne Hathaway), is female, they take him out of Minnesota and send him to Rio de Janeiro to meet her. While there, he learns to confront his fear of flying in order to win her heart. Along the way, they get kidnapped by Fernando (Jake T. Austin) to sell them to get a fortune. After they escape, they try to avoid the thieves with help from Rafael, a wise Toucan (George Lopez), Luiz, a chainsaw "professional" bulldog (Tracy Morgan), Linda, Blu's owner (Leslie Mann), a redhead bird (Will.I.Am) and a small yellow canary (Jamie Foxx), and also avoid the theives' pet cockatoo, Nigel (Jemaine Clement)."

Looks fun, yeah it has the typical humor you'll find in a Ice Age movie but I'm down since the voice cast has Jesse Eisenberg and Jemaine Clement.

I would like to see this. Thumbs up for having Jemaine Clement in the movie.

Rio is (not surprisingly, perhaps) big in Brazil, where it looks like it will easily beat Avatar:

Rio is the first film of 2011 to top $200 million on the international chart, reaching that milestone late in the weekend. It earned $44.27 million on 12,901 screens in 67 markets for a three-week total of $206.01 million internationally and $286.82 million worldwide. The film didn't open in any major markets this past weekend, but that clearly didn't hurt too badly, as the holds were excellent. For instance, the film was down just 10% in Brazil, earning $6.65 million on 971 screens for a total of $31.19 million. To put this into perspective, Avatar made less than $60 million in that market in total, and only had just over $20 million after three weeks of release. At this pace, $300 million internationally and $400 million worldwide is easily within reach.
