RIP Jerry Robinson, Creator of the Joker, 1922-2011

Legendary comic book artist Jerry Robinson, who had a profound impact on the mythos of Batman, passed away on Wednesday evening. Robinson’s contributions to comic books and Batman in particular are innumerable, but he most notably created the original look for the Joker, suggested the name “Robin,” and was a force behind the character of Alfred.

Robinson was 89 and died in his sleep Wednedsay night. Gotham City wouldn’t have been the same without him.
