Robert Downey Jr. Is Doom - "Same task, new mask"

Which for me, is wild for a villain who's entire gimmick is he is hideously scarred and has to wear a mask at all times

Which he won't because it's the MCU & if we don't see the actor's face every single time they're in a scene we forget who's actually playing the character.. because we're stupid like that.

Seriously though, Dr. Doom of all characters should have a mask for 95% of the film, I can accept if they want to have some sort of flashback or period were the mask has been removed just to show RDJ, but I want him masked up constantly.

Same actually goes for all the heroes/villains that have masks, this nonsense with the masks disappearing & reappearing at will really gets on my nerves when watching.

Yeah, flashback to before the accident is fine and even when he is God Doom if you want to visually reference the 80s Secret Wars and have him take it off at some point, fine. But outside things like that, Doom should always be masked

It's gonna be hard explaining why doom looks identical to tony stark. He must be a variant of stark or stark is of him?

Doctor Doom is obviously going to be from a different universe. The Fantastic Four are going to be from a different universe, so why couldn't Doctor Doom be from their universe?

Some of you guys just love to overthink this ****.

I guess everyone is wearing a padded muscle suit nowadays. At least it isn’t that obvious… Meh who cares as long as he looks good with the suit.

Oh and motion capture dots on the face as well so I wonder if the mask is going to be CGI, at least for certain parts of the film… or they could be doing some de-aging stuff.

I don't really see the need of deaging vfx unless there's a flashback scene similar to Civil War.

Doom's mask and costume may be entirely CG. The Iron Man suit was essentially all CG since IM3, so why should I expect Downey to suddenly wear a bulky armor now?

Doom will face Avengers, Wakandians, Thunerbolt, F4. thats more than enough.

Dont know why they decide to include alternate X-men
I always wanted to have MCU X-men as first X-men appearance.
Seeing others versions before including 616 version may tire people out. All ideas must be kept for MCUX-men

and Doom will be from another universe for sure. obviously earth 616 doesnt have Wade Wilson, F4, Doom, Oscorp, Venom

I don't know why you are so confused by about FoX-Men's inclusion, when Deadpool, Beast, the Professor, the Wolverine, Pyro are introduced in the MCU with the Fox's actors.

And this is also the Multiverse saga others like Jennifer Garner, Chris Evans as Johnny, Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield have also returned, they aren't going to single them out, especially after those previous appearances in mcu films!

I'm not going to begrudge Marvel Studios for giving the FoX-Men one last hurrah in the biggest film/s possible before they reboot the franchise. McKellen's Magneto and Stewart's Xavier are very near and dear to me, so if nothing else I'll be thankful for getting them one more time.

I think Kevin Feige holds a special connection to the earlier Marvel movies especially he was involved in those.

Fully CGI masks and suits don’t look as good as the real deal. Some look downright wonky and too soft/fake. A mix of the both practical/special effects probably offers the best results all around, like enhancing with CGI a well designed suit/mask…

For example the earlier Iron Man suits and masks looked better than the overly polished/soft/shiny version seen in IW or AEG. Another example for me would be the more real Black Panther mask and suit from Civil War which where way better than what we got in the cgi stuff we got in the Black Panther film. Another one would be Jane’s fully CGI helmet from Thor 4 which left a lot to be desired in some spots while the real thing/concept seen online was freaking great.

A different example is for example Hela’s helmet which in just one shot was real and it looked damn near perfect while everywhere else it was for the most part really good CGI on a great concept. So yeh diferente ways to look at it guess…

I think its really going to come down to time restriction. Doomsday is less than 1 year away, would they have enough to polish VFX or do they need to use more practical sets/costumes to lessen the postprod work?

I agree 100%. I am not arguing a CG Doom suit will look better. I am saying I expect it to be a mocap suit cause RDJ has been doing that with Iron Man since like Iron Man 3, so why would I expect him to suddenly in a more advanced age where anything practical again.

Sure, one can understand the reasoning behind the choice but still not like the result/execution.

The CG costumes and disappearing masks on everyone is a change I just hate lol! I hope they go that extra mile for Doom. I just expect the laziness

CGing Doom's mask would be insane, quite frankly.
For big fight scenes and complex set pieces I get it. But otherwise just build a great looking metallic mask for close ups, dialogue, dramatic scenes… it shouldn’t be that hard of an assignment for the prop department. Then again if RDJ doesn’t wanna be bothered with a mask at all then we’ll get what we get.

It is a good thing he will have the scars. The entire plot shouldn't hinge on Doom looking like Tony Stark and doing away with Doom's most defining characteristic. So having the scars is a positive thing. I will give them credit for that. I just hope they don't fix his face super quickly. I expect God Doom to have a perfect face. Thats fine, he does that in Secret Wars. But wait until the end
