He’s producing, not starring. I don’t really get stoner comedies, but I’m probably not under the right influence when watching them either.

Fox has found an inspired way to tap back into the spirit of one of the studio’s all time grossing comedies, Home Alone. In fact, the new take sounds like a blend of that John Hughes-scripted family film, with the irreverence, hard R rating, and star of Deadpool. Ryan Reynolds is attached to produce Stoned Alone, which is in development at Fox. Augustine Frizzell is set to direct. Kevin Burrows and Matt Mider wrote the script from an idea by Fox exec Matt Reilly.

Stoned Alone is reminiscent of that hallowed comedy classic. It centers around a twenty-something weed growing loser who misses the plane for his holiday ski trip. He makes the best of things by getting high. Paranoia sets in and he believes he hears someone break into his house. Turns out thieves have broken in. Fully stoned and fueled by paranoia, he tries to thwart the thieves and defend his castle. Reynolds will produce through his Fox-based Maximum Effort production banner, with and Maximum Effort’s George Dewey executive producer.

If they cast Macaulay Culkin as the lead, it'll beat Infinity War's opening weekend.

A nice nod to Home Alone I'm okay with. Sounds kinda fun

Yeah, the only way is for it to cast Culkin, but overall - ugghhh ...

Cast Macaulay Culkin, or don't do it at all.

Culkin is 37(!) so if they are going for young 20s, not sure if it would work, although he still has a youthful look.

I guess this film is dead now Fox/Disney is definitely happening then.

Thank God.

Lol, we literally only got a synopsis and you're already trashing the film.

Because it's a terrible idea! I sounds like a bad April Fools joke, and I cannot take it seriously. To me it's like if you took Toy Story and turned it into a conspiracy thriller about toys coming to life.

It could be worse, it could be a straight-up remake.

It sounds like a lot of fun to me. Not sure what there is to hate. But why are we acting like the Disney deal is going to wipe literally every random project from Fox's slate?

This definitely will be. There's no way Disney will want to release an adult reimagining of a family movie. It's a groan-worthy idea only good enough for an April Fools joke anyway, but with Disney there's no way they'll give it the time of day.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Disney scrap this, and green-light a Home Alone family-orientated reboot instead.

I think its connection to Home Alone is being taken a bit too literally. It seems more like the title of the film is a nod to the original Home Alone which is quite obvious but the plot is nothing more than a comedic stoner home invasion film.

Its just funnier and easier to sell the idea as "Home Alone reimagining"

Has anything officially labelled it as a reimagining?

I think some are just plain ignorant that through various subsidiary companies that Disney has for close to thirty years produced many projects with adult content AND that with the acquisition of Fox they went out of their way to get even more. Both of these are undeniable facts.

You DO realize Disney (through a different studio name) released PULP FICTION? Their standards of "family friendliness" solely apply to DISNEY MOVIES. To think that they'll start canceling movies like this (And it's a great idea, still don't get your problem) is ridiculous.

Yes I do, but if you think Disney are going to be willing to release a reimagining of a family comedy as a 15/'R-rated' comedy about getting high on drugs you're insane.

I fail to see how it's a great idea. It ignores the basic format of the Home Alone franchise in order to turn it into a comedy about a grown adult getting drugged alone. That's like if you remade E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial into a film about Eliot suffering from mental trauma as a result of a tortured childhood, and ET is all in his head.

Why does it seem so difficult for you to understand that this isnt an actual official Home Alone R rated remake. It just pitched that way but really all it is is a stoner comedy home invasion film.

I doesnt actually have anything to do with 90s Home Alone film its just a quick way to pitch the film and have people go Oh yeh I get the concept.

It's not a remake of Home Alone. At all. It just shares a similar premise. What about that do you not understand?

You guys should ask him if the thinks Coulson from Agents of Shield should make an appearance.
