From Famitsu, Scans coming.

PS3 | Ryu ga Gotoku 3 (aka Yakuza 3)
Sega
Spring 2008
- Set in Edo period in 1605
- fighting styles are fists, one blade, two blade and big blade
- heat action has turned into special moves

The Edo period (江戸時代, Edo-jidai?), also called Tokugawa period, is a division of Japanese history running from 1603 to 1868. The period marks the governance of the Edo or Tokugawa shogunate, which was officially established in 1603 by the first Edo shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu. The period ended with the Meiji Restoration, the restoration of imperial rule by the 15th and last shogun Tokugawa Yoshinobu. The Edo period is also known as the beginning of the early modern period of Japan.

Hopefully this one is better then the original (which just needed a better story).

Wait, wasn't Yukuza a Shenmue-type game? Why the heck are they moving it to the past?

Don't worry, play for a couple of years and the 4-D graphics should kick in

The answer is because Feudal japan = cool, and the story of Kazuma was wrapped up in two games without many avenues to extend it.

Yakuza 3? Where's Yakuza 2?

Yakuza 2 was never localized because the original sold poorly in America, but chances are that Sega will try again with Yakuza 3, seeing as it has no ties to the first two. :o

More importantly.....crabs?

Using a heat attack you will be able to strike its weak point for Massive Damage.

Nagoshi closed off the event with hints on not one, but two PS3 games with which he's personally involved. How personally? Well, did we forget to mention that Nagoshi showed up at the event in robes and flanked by two geisha girls? This cosplay was actually a hint at Nagoshi's next game.

In development for the PS3 from the team that made Yakuza, Nagoshi described the game, whose name was not announced, as "my biggest production since I started working on consumer games." He expects it to exceed Yakuza in its ability to move players. An official unveiling will take place on September 14th, with a release planned for Spring.

As for the second game, Nagoshi was only able to say "I believe we'll be able to announce it in the not-so-distant future."

Apparently the Ryo Ga Goto site has a countdown that says 9 days or some such.

Oh sh....

I need this game!

It sucks that we didn't get part 2 though :cmad:
No chance of that ever coming?

Wow. I was actually looking forward to a Way of the Samurai 3 game but I think I'd like this one too.

Eva Longario was a nice touch Gammy.

Second link. Never mind I think I got redirected or something. Got a pic of Eva Longario signing an autograph. Anyways, I hope this game doesn't cut into the WOTS genre by Spike. Seriously, they make great games....Samurai Western being a major exception

The second link you posted was blocked by the libraries lock thingy as being pornography, what have you been looking up Gamera! > : O

Here are some more more up close versions so you can look at the Geisha's cleavage Gamera:

Apparently you play as two leads. Kiryuu Kazumanosuke (ha, obvious an 'ancestor' to Kiryuu Kazuma in RGG1-2) and Miyamoto Musashi. The game takes place in Kyoto.

This game just got my money.

I'm pretty hyped for this game somehow, Feudal Japan equals awesome. If they don't localize it they could at least include English subtitles option. Since the PS3 games are region free I could just import it.

Miyamoto_Musashi is a real world samurai, you can read about him at Wikipedia (not that this game will be super historically accurate or anything O_O).

Woman....I know everything there is to know about Miyamoto Sensei ;)
I read his Book of Five Rings when I was like 16 years old :o

Part 2 is a glorified Epilogue anyway, so you weren't missing much. :o

A friend of mine who played part 2 told me that it was ALOT of recap from the first game so you didn't have to play the first one. Would have been nice to knock that Tool Nishiki around again though

If not, I hope Sega is cool enough to include English subtitles on the Japanese release so PS3 owners can just import it.

If they're going to localize for America they might as well 360 it.
