Ehhh...

I don't know if it's because she's past her prime, or she's so skinny now, but Jolie doesn't seem as athletic and naturally fitting for action scenes as she once was. :csad:

What in the WORLD was up with that ******ed step-off-the-wall-punch? It's bad enough that it's an extra move to punching someone, but it was half-assed. :funny:

But I love "Step-off-the-wall" punches!

EDIT: I love that the Russian spelling for "Salt" looks like "COAT"!!! Now THAT'S a movie I wanna see!

But I actually thought the trailer was pretty nice, in general. I've been wanting to see Angelina in more action films, and she's still young enough to pull 'em off. I wonder who's idea it was to flat out change the character's gender when Cruise dropped out of the film.

Past her prime? She's under 35! Plus I just see some bad fight choreography, but that's just from how it was edited.

haha, yeah, i thought most of it looked alright, but that last bit made me crack up. :hehe:

Hard to judge without hearing the dialogue but it looks like a slick Alias/Mission Impossible style espionage thriller, I am glad it's not a "Bourne with boobs" style, the action and production values look pretty good though IMO.

Well, it is possible to be sluggish and unfit at 35. You're right, it was the bad choreography. At the same time, she still looks likes a stick and it takes away from the nature of her character a bit.

I almost wish it was Bourne-ish. :o

Damon has never struck me as being built for that genre, but his straight up ruthlessness and finesse made him one of the best action turns I've seen in recent memory. You actually felt like he was born for it.

More people in the genre should look up to that commitment, instead of relying on the camera and story to big them up.

I was meaning the lack of shaky cam and pseudo 70's grit.

My problem with her action movie attempts is that she plays the same character. Which make me feel tired seeing her act in them. In my opinion Famka Janssen would been better in Salt.

In all fairness, you won't find many action stars who have done any different.

So wait, she's innocent but still runs and causes a bunch of crap?

Bad idea is bad.

You mean like Bruce Willis playing burnt-out cops outside of the Die Hard films? Or Arnold Schwarzanegger being a nigh-invulnerable badass in almost every action movie he's ever done? Or Stallone shooting dozens of men at once whilst screaming with his downward sneered mouth in almost every action movie he's been in? Besides, her action resume pretty much begins and ends with Tomb Raider and Mr. & Mrs. Smith.

I love Janssen, but I wouldn't be surprised if the studio wasn't hoping on the slight chance of making a franchise out of this, and (while I realize what a double standard this is, given the role was originally meant for mid-forties year-old Tom Cruise), I don't think they're going to go with a woman who will be pushing fifty by the time they want to do another film.

Plus she has huge feet.

I'll check the US trailer out when I get back.

what i expected. no camera angles and lighting could change it. the fact that she is super skinny. sorry doesnt work. when Angelina was in shape for tomb raided it was very fun to watch her doing action. but as a skeleton i dont feel it.

Oh for goodness sake. They mine as well have just cast Lucy Lawless.

^

Yeah. I mean that bit in the police car, who didn't think Jolie was channeling Xena by that point?

Looking forward to this. Read some good things about the script.
With Berg at the helm and Cruise infront, this could be a great movie.

I take it back...:oldrazz:

this movie looks alot more action-packed than i originally thought it would..lol

i was thinking it would be a serious movie... actually looks like fun

so let me guess. she doesnt remember who she is right?

No, she's just being framed. I'm kinda confused by the trailer myself. Makes it seem like all the Russian had to say was "she's a spy" and everyone believes him.

well you know this doesnt happen. something has to happen after that scene where he says that she is a spy. so i guess she is really one and doesnt remember.

Trailer looks okay.

Angelina Jolie looks less than okay. Whoever was in charge of catering on that film set should have held her down and forced a few dozen Big Macs down her throat and washed those down with at least ten full-fat milkshakes.

It was hard enough to believe Keira Knightley (sp?) as a credible "warrior woman" in King Arthur and to a lesser extent in the POTC, not to mention Angelina Jolie as Fox in "Wanted", but it's damn near impossible to see Angelina Jolie as a credible physical threat in this film when she looks like she'd snap in two if you looked at her the wrong way. She's just too skinny to be a credible action heroine (IMHO).

All the stuff with her stunt double looks fine. Apart from a somewhat dubious premise, the rest of the film looks fine as well. I just wish Angelina Jolie would put throw the kids into a mini-van and start hitting some fast food drive-throughs a bit more often.

Still looking forward to the film though. And yes, mega-Lucy Lawless/Xena look-alike post dye job with the fringe/bangs. They should have just cast Lucy Lawless as "Salt" for all the post-dye scenes - at least she still has some flesh covering her skeleton.

Cheers.
