Sam Worthington will star in Summit Entertainment's remake of Danish thriller The Candidate, with Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen producing through their Temple Hill Entertainment (Twilight), reports Variety.

Beau Willimon will write the adaptation, which follows an aspiring lawyer who wakes up in a hotel room with scant memories of the woman he met the night before, only to discover she's dead in the bathroom -- and he's about to be blackmailed for her murder. As he fights to clear his name, he uncovers a conspiracy that leads back to his own father's mysterious death.

Peter Bose and Jonas Allen of Miso Film will executive produce.

Worthington, who starred in Terminator Salvation this summer, can next be seen in Avatar, Last Night and Clash of the Titans.

I've not seen the original but this sounds like another good project for the burgeoning career of Worthington.

No more actiony sci-fi's for Worthington. Is serious business now.

i am really interested how he will play in this movie.

The plot sounds straight to DVD.

But who the hell is this guy's agent? That guy is genius. Worthington was the star in a huge summer flop and still gets work as a leading man?

Yep. Sounds like another plot done 1,000,000x over. But I have faith Worthington will make the most of this like he's done in the past.

sounds like a good plot, Sam will be great in it theres no doubt
all that counts is the writing and directing to make this a great movie

I have about as much interest in Sam Worthington's next starring role as I do in the next Carrot Top film.
