Odd how? He went straight for a while & was even an Avenger at one point.

It's just that people on here seem to prefer the classic versions of characters, so sandman as a villain will win easily i thinks...

Although he is and could still be interesting as a hero, I much prefer him being a villain.

Villain. The period when he was a hero was merely a symptom of a problem that was seeping through the entire MU.

Aloha,
The first Amazing Spider-MAn I read was #18 featuring Sandman. He will Always be a villian to me. I prefer him as a loner compared to Frightful Four,Avengers or with Silver Sable.
Spidey rules

I thought he was way more interesting as a hero. Loved him as a member of Sable's Wild Pack.

The thing I've always found about Sandman is that while he is a villian in nature, he has not done anything truely evil. Thats why the whole Avengers and then later Wild Pack thing worked for me.

He could be Dangling on the line between hero and villain... Sometimes he could do hero stuff, and other times Villain stuff...

You mean Silver Sable.

Isn't that what Catwoman does?

Great Sandman moment: Sandy gets in The Swordsman's face when Swordsman insults Spider-Man, in Avengers Vol.3, #1.

He works better as a Villain for me.

I like both versions of Sandy.I view his character as a bad seed growing up that turned his life around after maturing and surrounding himself with a better crowd. Sort of like how some people turn their lives around after going to prison, a death of a loved one,the birth of a child or meeting somebody with a strong positive influence. If I have to pick one, I guess a hero simply for the sake of character development.

Sandman is definitely best as a villian. I liked the idea of a normal common criminal getting super powers. He was never gonna want to "rule the world" just a run of the mill bank job!

Very interesting point. He's more of a petty thug in a supervillain profession.
