I'm kinda shocked & sadden by this. He is probably one of the more accessible and creative minds behind anime since...Mirazaki. My favorite of his would be the heartwarming Tokyo Godfathers.

It was confirmed by Madhouse. His death is still kept under wraps, but it might (MIGHT) be cancer. He was 47.

Not a big fan of Anime and i've only seen Paprika and Perfect Blue out of his films but sadly he died at way too early of an age.

Definitely sad. Paprika and Perfect Blue are two of my favorite anime films.

Well that's just a bummer. RIP.

The anime hitchcock. My favorite anime director. Paranoia Agent. Rest in peace, sir. I'll miss the insanity you produced. :csad:

This sucks. I really loved Paprika, so this definitely saddens me. When I saw the headline, the first words out of my mouth were literally, "No, no, no, no, no!!!!!" It definitely hit me pretty hard.

Wonder what will happen to The Dream Machine? Will they continue with someone else in charge, or just scrap it altogether out of respect?

I've only seen Perfect Blue, and I liked it a lot. But regardless of whether or not I liked his movies, it's still sad he died that young.

Very young. And it's not like he didn't look healthy. I thought he looked pretty young for his age, and was fit :(
