Anyone know any sword & planet, planetary romance and/or science fantasy movies (maybe good ones) besides Flash Gordon or Star Wars? I'm looking for little to no space travel to more planetary adventure. Any thoughts or ideas?

Thanks

Krull maybe?

Blade Runner definitely does not fall into that category.

Tecnowraith, you're going to be hard-pressed to find good movies in this category. The lack of anything good is why I don't really care for these kinds of films. The closest thing I can recommend is Hitchhiker's guide to the Galaxy. Some may not like it, and it might have a little too much space travel for what you're asking, but It's got some pretty cool fantasy elements. I'd also check out AI: Artificial Intelligence.

Not many I can think of.

Enemy Mine? :D

Dune would be one. I can't wait for that remake by Peter Berg.

I'm sure Avatar will knock socks off.

Maybe Logan's Run.

Almost every stories I have seen or read that falls into this category usually does not involve planet earth but an entire different planet. So yeah I know it will be a hard find. Any animated, western or anime would be find also.

I've never been able to stand anime, but one series I actually thought had a lot of potential was Wolf's Rain. I didn't see all of it, just the last few episodes, but it was pretty good.

Dune defintiely

If they would make an Inhumans movie you'd have another.

Chronicles of Riddick tried but jsut missed (Pitch Black being more straightforward SciFI)

Fifth Element would definitely be one.

Immortal is a good example, I did not like it but it was visually compelling
also Heavy Metal 1

He-Man and the Masters of the Universe.

When John carter of Mars gets made, it'll be another Science-Fiction fantasy blend.

Starship Troopers
The Last Star Fighter
Barbarella
Galaxy Quest
Highlander 2: Renegade Version

Yes on Barbarella and Highlander 2. Don't know about Starship Troopers

That's what science fantasy means to me. :)

Starship Troopers & The Last Star Fighter are more military ScifFi than science fantasy
Barbarella: I would yes
Galaxy Quest: not really
Highlander 2: Renegade Version: to a point

Final Fantasy (the games) has always been science fantasy from steampunk to cyberpunk. I guess I would include the Spirits Within but I'll add in Advert Children for good measure.

Enemy Mine doesn't count either. read my sugguests: Masters of the Universe, Final Fantasy Advert Children, and the upcoming John Carter of Mars.

I do not even consider Spirits Within even a FF story. :):oldrazz::woot: It just did not feel epic enough or that fantastical like the the games did.

I'm looking for more Sword and Planet: A subgenre of science fantasy, it focuses on swashbuckling adventures on other planets, type films.
