Scores To Marvel Films: Which do you like the most?

The scores to the MCU film have been largely marginal. I think Cap TFA, Avengers, and Guardians of the Galaxy are the only exceptional ones.

Yeah, Marvel's been a bit lackluster on the score front


X2 is still my favorite score/theme of the modern comic film era
The only part in DOFP that gives me chills was that theme kicking in during the opening credits

I'd say that my 3 favorite would be Elfman's Spider-Man, Jackman's XMFC, and Tyler's IM3. Some of the others have been good, but mostly forgettable. It would be nice to get John Williams on board, but that's probably a shot in the dark.

To me no superhero theme will ever top John William's Superman.

But for Marvel, I've never really loved any scores by any studio until Thor (Doyle) and Cap (Silvestri). I hope Marvel doesn't overuse him but I really love Tyler's stuff on IM3 and TTDW (The Thor score being the stronger of the two IMO). I also dig on the Avengers theme but I feel like it still needs something more.

I still like Punisher'04 maybe the most but I'd say The Avenger's credit's theme music is probably my favorite single track of any Marvel movie ever.

Iron Man is still my favorite score from any Marvel movie. Ramin Djawadi's theme just hit it right out of the park. teh scene where Tony suits up for the 1st time, before heading to Gulmira, is one of my favorite scenes from any movie, period. The music fits like a glove in that scene.
I loved Pacific Rim's score, too. Of course, I wasn't surprised when I found out Ramin Djawadi did that movie as well.

My 2nd favorite score for any Marvel movie is The Incredible Hulk. Craig Armstrong did a wonderful job.

The best Marvel scores for me is probably X-Men First Class and Thor.

Fantastic 4's was actually pretty good, one of the few good things about the film

I didn't hear F4's but the other two were pure mediocrity for me. Elfman made the only worthwhile contributions in AoU, imo, but nothing particularly impressed me.

Ant-Man, Captain America: The First Avenger, Iron Man #1 and the Avengers.

I think Ant-Man and Captain America have the catchiest themes. I hope Ant-Man becomes more recognised, because it's a theme which sounds great on its own even if you didn't know it was a Marvel movie. It sounds very spy-like.

Which do people think are the most musically playable themes on a single instrument? I don't mean which are your favourites, but which work best and can sound good being played on either the correct instrument or still work on another instrument?

I'd say Ant-Man and Captain America could work well on woodwind or brass. Avengers could work on a stringed instrument.

I don't think Iron Man #1 would really work though, even though I like the theme. I can't really imagine that being played on even a guitar. Not sure how Thor would work either, or Winter Soldier.
