Short of a few animated pieces, and some news on the Arrowverse, is anyone else remotely disappointed by the lack of big screen live action titles WB have(n’t) announces this year?

Nope. Because in a matter of weeks, the hype from Comic Con dies down and people move on with their lives accordingly.

If they do Crisis in a particular way, then they could use that as a platform to relaunch the cinematic DCU. If they were to try that, they might intentionally keep their cards pretty close to the chest.

Short answer is, no, it did not bother me.

Not in the slightest.

Absolutely right to avoid SDCC this year... simply because the company is still trying to right the wrongs of the past, and get things on track properly.

Next year they will have a lot of new projects (especially Batman) to talk about. They’ll own Hall H.

They would of been embarrassed. They couldn't play Hall H because of Marvel. If they moved to a smaller hall or different day, they would of been laughed at.

Considering how divisive The Sparking Bat casting choice is not even Batman can help them win Hall H next year or any year. The Sparkling Bat is a hype killer. Meanwhile next year the MCU will likely go into more details about their new fox characters. DC will NOT be winning or owning Hall H for a long time especially thanks to The Sparkling Bat. Sony will own Hall H before DC does

1. He’s not a divisive casting choice. He and Armie Hammer were the fan favorites
2. No one calls him The Sparkling Bat lol
3. Pattinson is a kickass actor, I’m convinced you haven’t seen any of his recent work.

None of his recent work interest me so no I have not seen any of his recent work & I call him The Sparkling Bat I could care less if anyone else does & yes he is divisive since people OUTSIDE of fan boys circles laugh at this choice when they hear hes the new Batman. Among the General Audience he is divisive outside of DC & Twilight fans. Fan Boys certainly live in their own bubble with plenty of things

I'm fine with them not appearing this year. Regroup, get your business in order and come back next year. Show up fully loaded and ready to go or don't show up at all.

SDCC is little more than instant gratification. It's super cool to receive information in the moment, but give it time and you're right back to where you were before - waiting for the movie to come out. It doesn't help that some fans have developed this weird sense of entitlement in recent years - which only compounds the issue.

Long story short: It's not a big deal.

The long term effects are minimal. Seeing a WW or BOP trailer next month as appose to last Saturday isn't big. I was into it back when they had the exclusive CC trailers in the past.

Lol what a ignorant comment. Nobody can’t take you seriously if you can’t take the time to research his other work instead doing the played out “ThE TwILIGht GuY!”. Sound like a Marvel fan boy.

Well when he does a genre & something Im interested in I'll watch it. Im not gonna watch a boring drama Im not interested in (I dont watch dramas in general) just to see somebodys acting abilities. Im not the type that watches a movie or show just to see someone in it

Pattinson is neither particularly controversial nor a particularly odd choice. He's a tall, dark, handsome man with a reasonably solid build in his early thirties known for playing tortured, tragic characters.

Are there plenty of rando general audience members who are snickering to each other about Edward Cullen being the new Batman? Probably, but there was also a sizable contingent of people who thought Daniel Craig would be a garbage James Bond because he had blond hair and a non-traditionally handsome face and they were immediately proven wrong. If the movie looks cool, no one is going to care that Pattinson was in a couple movies that sucked ten years ago. Hell, even back in the day among people who were deep in the Twilight anti-fandom he was always well liked.

Not to mention next year he has The Lighthouse, everything about which screams that it'll be a huge deal with horror and cult movie fans and Tenant which is essentially guaranteed to be massive with the pedigree involved.

But, anyway, sorry to add to the derailment of this thread - Really don't feel them skipping out on SDCC is a big deal. It is exciting to know news and trailers are coming and to get them all so close together, but in the end it genuinely doesn't matter.

I think it’s adorable that Superhero Hype is letting ten year olds have accounts now.

I think it’s more likely he’s a grown man drunk on Bud Lights... hence the “dilly dilly”. Kids don’t remember Twilight.

It’s all good, once the trailer drops, guarantee the naysayers will change their tune.

Wait so now people are NOT allowed to NOT watch stuff they are NOT interested in ? What exactly is wrong with NOT being interested in anything hes done ? Im 10 years old for simply having no interest in certain movies after watching their trailers

Yeah that makes sense & whos behaving like a 10 year old here ? It certainly is not me

That’s a much better guess, without a doubt

We need all the upcoming DC projects to do well. In future hopefully that will result in many more top releases that can be stacked up for an exciting Comic Con or alternative event.

Just for the record - and although every prediction I've made about DC movies since 2015 has been wrong- I think R Pats is going to surprise everyone as Batman, in a good way.

Just because he was in awful films (i.e. Twilight ) doesn't make him an awful actor. I'm on board with the casting choice and am keen to see a younger Batman.

I avoid making generalizing statements, but from all these years experience on Hype boards, I have found that DC fans are the worst. (and I know, I am including myself)

I do not know about worse. I do sometimes think they are more rigid and intolerant.

No one here has said hes a bad actor though ? Sure hes known for Twilight but the thing is he clearly has not done anything mainstream or interesting where the General Audience would be interested in something he does. Perhaps that was a choice by him but everyone here on this forum has their preferred genre & taste & no doubt ignore certain types of movies especially when the trailer fails to interest you. To simply say someone is drunk or 10 years old because a certain actor has not done any movies that clearly does not interest the General Audience at large is quite immature. No doubt the immature people on here also ignores certain movies if the trailer does not interest them etc. It is no wonder that DC Fans get a bad rep everywhere

It was a little disappointing, but it ultimately doesn’t matter. News will be released when it’s released, trailers will come when they come, and we’ll watch the movies we want to watch. SDCC, for me, just isn’t that big of a deal anymore. I didn’t even know it was last weekend until I checked the homepage and saw they were doing live streams.

Perhaps if you came into discussions with less of an attitude, you wouldn’t get a negative reaction?

You clearly used terms like ‘The Sparkling Bat’ about Pattinson because you wanted to get a rise out of people... and then you complain when you do get one? A lot of us have been around here long enough to see this kind of bating tactic and see straight through it.

By all means air your criticisms of Pattinson’s casting... but try not to do it in such a dickish manner. That way you’ll get a much more constructive response
