First Casting News for Sharktopus!

Source: SyFy Movies
March 11, 2010

Karen O'Hara, director of original movies over at SyFy, dropped some knowledge on her Twitter followers today regarding Roger Corman's latest picture Sharktopus.

"Eric Roberts will be playing the scientist who creates the unholy hybrid!" she writes.

Corman himself told us, in this exclusively interview, Sharktopus comes from "a company called Blue Water, which is under contract with the Navy. It is a bioengineering firm. Pirates or terrorists use small boats to attack different areas where the Navy officially cannot go, so they commissioned Blue Water to design a half shark/half octopus. There's something implanted in its brain they can control. The tentacles can overturn the boat and then the shark eats the terrorists."

I would've gone for Octoshark myself.

Roger Corman alone should make it worth at least one viewing.

Why does Eric Roberts have anything to do with this?

I want to see Sharktopus inside a Sharktopia.

Because Eric Roberts has been in some terrible movies in the past, I see this as being another one of those cases. He's a fantastic actor, but he has terrible choices. I think it was Carnosaur 2 I saw with him in it....well, just

On the other hand, this has the possibility of being the next "Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus"...hmmm, I see crossover possibilites. Btw, did anyone catch that preview for "Dinoshark". You know, like Dinocrco...but a Dinoshark. Hmmm, I'm starting to see patterns here.

Is Corman directing? I have to watch this if so.

Best scene of the film, which Kevin McHale also noted on The Soup, was the lead hot female scientist looking up info on Sharky online, then while doing so takes off her sweater and sits there in a lacy black bra...for no reason. :awesome:

Considering all these god awful movies are made by Syfy, and filled with previous cast from every Stargate franchise you have to wonder why Syfy cancelled all those popular shows only to stuff their money into these made for tv things. I just saw one that by the description had a good premise: Stonehenge Apocalypse.
But so many "how the hell do you put these things in?!" moments kept me from enjoying it.
Its set in England - why is the US military in charge, and authorising nuclear bomb drops?
How in a 10hr countdown period do you get from Salisbury to Hethrow, get on a plane (which must have been leaving that instant) to New York, and get across town to a museum?
Why did every road in "England" look exactly like a North American road cutting through Iowa or somewhere?
Why did the Sanctuary Pyramid seem to have absolutely nothing in it - it was just a crumbly crapheap. There's probably a zillion better bunkers they could have stayed in to survive.
Pretty sure if you wipe out the surface of the planet to make room for another terraforming event, you're gonna wipe ou all plant and animal life too. Mankind might not deserve to survive (according to the nut jobs), but what did the bunnies do?

I'm so in. I've started to develop an appreciation for the crap sci-fi movies ... and no I have not smoked weed in more than a year.

the end of that trailer was hilarious, when the bungie jumper gets eaten lol
