WELCOME EVERYONE TO BIG BROTHER! This is your official sign up thread! If you want to play, just say the word here (or drop me a PM, if you so prefer).

To give some context, a while back, I gauged interest for Hype Survivor. Unfortunately the interest was not quite there to do the game in the way I had hoped (Fans vs Favorites). However, through this, something new was born. Hype Big Brother. This is a game that requires fewer players (as few as 12, but I am willing to extend the game to as many as 16, based on interest level). Further, this game has the added advantage of being much more strategically interesting and complex (due to its nuances) than Survivor. As such, I decided, let's give it a go!

At any rate, for those of you who are unfamiliar, here are

THE RULES (special thanks to JewishHobbit and Spider-Fan, whose Hype Survivor rules, I borrowed heavily from)

SHH Big Brother is a game of strategy, deception, and skill. Alliances are both permitted and encouraged. Make no allies or make many allies, it's all up to you. There are many different ways to win this game. Masterminding, forethought, and hard work are the keys to success. Laziness and ineffective play will both be exposed and punished. Although being lazy may be a strategy, not participating at all is not. If the players and hosts feel at any time that a certain player is no longer participating, they can be removed from the game without warning.

As a side note: alliances can be with any of the players. It doesn't matter who they are nor what tribe they're on, just make sure it's someone you trust...or not. Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer!

General Overview

The basic premise of the game is simple. House Guests (players) are placed in “the Big Brother House.” During their stay, they will vote to evict the other House Guests from the House, one by one, until only two remain. At that point, a jury, consisting of previously evicted House Guests will vote to determine the winner of Big Brother.

Each segment of the game is comprised of a “Week” (note: this is not real time). Each week consists of five basic portions. Its breaks down as follows:

1) The Head of Household (“HOH”) Competition
2) Nominations for Eviction
3) The Power of Veto (“POV”) Competition
4) The Power of Veto Ceremony
5) The Eviction Ceremony

Competitions

As stated, each week consists of no fewer than two competitions Instructions for competitions will be explained for each competition. Some competitions may require judging; some may be trivia; some may be skill. Expect a variety for your playing pleasure. Simply put, the person who does the best, based on the rules of any given competition, wins the competition.

In a normal week, there will be two weekly competitions: the Head of Household Competition and the Power of Veto competition. The winner of each competition receives the title of Head of Household and the Power of Veto respectively.

Head of Household (HOH)

Each week will begin with a Head of Household competition. The winner of the competition becomes that week’s Head of House Hold.

The Head of Household is the most powerful position in the game. The Head of Household is safe from eviction for that week and gets to select 2 nominees for eviction. In other words, the HOH controls the fate of the House while in power.

The position does have its drawbacks, however. The most obvious of which is that HOH nominates two players for eviction. However, only one is evicted each week. Meaning that the one of the nominees will remain. Therefore, being HOH comes with potential to make at least one enemy each week.

Further, the HOH does not vote for eviction. The HOH only votes to evict in the event of a tie. So while HOH may be able to select who is nominated to be evicted, very seldom will the HOH have an actual say in who goes out the door (at least not directly).

Finally, the HOH may not take part in the HOH competition the following week. Meaning, for example, if you win HOH in week 1, you cannot be HOH in week 2. This does not apply to the final HOH competition.

Power of Veto (POV)

The second most important position in the House is that of the player who holds the Golden Power of Veto. The holder of the POV has the ability to veto one of the HOH’s nominees and remove the vetoed nominee from the chopping block. If the Power of Veto is used, both the person on whom it is used and the person who uses it becomes immune from eviction and the HOH must select a new nominee.

The Power of Veto is won through a competition, which takes place following the nomination ceremony. This begins by selecting players for this competition. Not all players take part in a POV ceremony. The Head of Household and the 2 nominees each RANDOMLY choose 1 player to participate in the Power of Veto competition. This will be done through a random number generator based on a number that each of you are assigned at the beginning of the game. The only time a player actually picks another contestant is if they choose “House Guest’s choice” (which will have a number allocated to it in the random number generator). ONLY THE HOH, THE 2 NOMINEES, AND THE 3 SELECTED PLAYERS PARTICIPATE IN THIS COMPETITION!

The winner of this competition wins the Power of Veto. Afterward, the Veto Ceremony will be held in which the holder of the Power of Veto has the option to remove one of the two nominees from the block. They can also choose to not use the Veto power at all. If the Veto winner does remove one of the 2 nominees, it falls to the Head of Household to put up a new nominee in their place. They cannot nominate the Power of Veto winner or the nominee that was rescued from the block.

Eviction

The final segment of the week is the Eviction Ceremony. During this segment of the game, players will PM their votes to the Host anonymously. The HOH and players nominated for eviction may not vote. The remaining House Guests cast a vote for the player that they want to evict from the house. The House Guest with the majority of votes is evicted from the Big Brother House and is removed from the game.

Twists

The motto of Big Brother is “expect the unexpected.” While these rules lay out a general guideline for the game, they are not concrete. The game will be filled with twists and turns that occur at various points. These twists can vary in nature and can completely change the course of the game. Always be vigilant and never feel safe in the Big Brother House.

Jury

In Big Brother, the players you evict from the House will ultimately determine the outcome of the game. The Jury will be composed of seven people (everyone voted off from the remaining nine players who didn't make the finals). The Jury will then vote FOR WHO THEY THINK SHOULD WIN the game. The player with the majority of the votes will be crowned winner of Superhero Hype Big Brother!

Cheating

A note on cheating: It's very easy to cheat in this game. Very, very easy. Some of the rounds will be much more difficult to cheat at than others (some will be downright impossible to cheat on). Regardless, hosts have ways of catching you and sometimes will even set up traps for you. If you feel you have to cheat, by all means, go ahead. But, if you're caught, you WILL be penalized. Again, specific rules of what's legal or not will be in each competition PM.

One thing that is certainly NOT lawful under any circumstances is sharing screen names. Hosts have the ability to check IPs, and if you are caught sharing screen names then a severe penalty will be handed out. Please be mindful of only using your OWN screen name for this game.

Misc.

Whilst these rules are set as the guidelines for this game, each competition will set the rules for that specific day. What may be cheating one day may not be another day. Reading is fundamental. Make sure you familiarize yourself with this information and those in the competitions as well. Please note that at times an announcement might be needed to amend the existing rules of this game, or the rules in the competition. Please look for these and note them. Each 'week' is marked by a new competition.

Don't worry, its not as intimidating as it sounds. So, I ask you this. Do you have what it takes to cheat, lie, and scheme your way through the Big Brother House until you are the one remaining player and champion of SHH Big Brother? If so, sign up today!

This sounds like a Gribble of an idea. I'll play.

I didn't bother reading what this consist of, but I'm just gonna go ahead and assume that I'll be live streaming myself 24/7 so I'm in.

I hope you have your challenges hat on, Matt. Running two a week about wore me out back when I hosted Survivor: Big Brother. It was definitely fun though.

And speaking of which... if successful and ongoing... would you consider this season 1 or season 2?

I sadly do not have the time to dedicate to playing, but I will support as a judge and co-host a challenge if ya want :)

How could I resist?! :D

 You're all signed up!

Good question. I will leave that to you and Spider-Fan to decide whether that was Hype Survivor or Hype Big Brother. After all, you were the hosts.

I will definitely take you up on that!

i'm unable to play but i am in support of this and will follow the game as best as i can.

nice to see some Community Events coming back into play. i hope people enjoy it

I won't join, but I will participate in making fun of those that do.

Tough one. Full title of our game was SHH Big Brother, so I call this a spinoff game but the 1st season of the spinoff. So I would say season 1

Don't do it, Matt will kill you while you sleep

:wow: Dude, that was a secret! Now how am I supposed to kill them?

At any rate, we are half way there! If we're not filled by the weekend or so, I will recruit the rest of the players.

Yeah. Personally, I am partial to your game remaining Hype Survivor: Big Brother addition and this being viewed as more of a spin-off. Mostly because if we make your Big Brother its own thing, it takes me out of the two time Survivor winner club. :funny: Although it would also make me the first winner of Hype Big Brother. :hmm:

I'm having second thoughts about committing to this. I'm just getting my writing chops back after a few years of not being able to commit to that (for personal reasons) and I'd hate to interrupt it. So Matt... I'll still play if you need to fill out the roster, but if you find another hypester who would like to play in my spot, I'll be happy to sit out so they can play.

And in that situation, I'd be happy to help with challenges or judging or whatever you would need to make the game successful/fun for the players.
