Okay, we have Reed Richards the pure physics genius, Hank Pym the biochemical wiz, and Tony Stark the engineering master. Should Petey become the master hacker considering the title for the best programmer in the Marvel universe is still wide open? This asset would help him against Iron Man and Mr. Fantastic if he could hack open the pro-reg computing grid and it adds a new established superiority of Spidey among all the superheroes.

Spidey has very little access to computers. I'm pretty sure he hasn't even ever owned one in his life. I can imagine them sticking Spidey in front of a computer, and him having no idea what to do. Ultimate Spidey really knows how to use computers, but 616 Spidey, at least in my estimation, wouldn't know the first thing about hacking. I think you'd need Beast for something like that.

Since 616 Spidey has [blackout]reprogramed his Iron Suit and overridden Tony's control and kicked his butt[/blackout] he is capable of hacking into computers.

I think it's a good idea that Spidey become someone like a supremo or at least an above average programmer in the Marvel world. The reason why it's not so in the past is because the world of computing has just be taking off in the 90's. Time has changed, and Marvel has to show that Spidey is really good in something instead of just "uhm, he's a genius. In what? Oh, he's just a genius".

And think about the cross-promotional of Marvel's Spidey and the IT world. Microsoft with Spidey. IBM with Spidey. Google with Spidey. He becomes the real hero for the nerds, a real "Web-spinner".

I'm considering making this my signature. :cwink:

I think you should. I would.
Plus, it's excellent for your ego.

Nahhh. I guess Peter's good at computers, but the name "Hacker" has such a negative sound to it. At least to me it does. *shrugs shoulder*

I don't think he should become big computer hacker. But I would love to see him come up with some more of his simple yet usefull inventions. I always liked that in spite of having super powers Spidey also made some wonderfull toys to help him fight crime.

Reed Richards may come up with a new tech wonder every issue but they are rarely seen again Peter used his webshooters and Spider-tracers all the time.

So lets see what else he can come up with.

I don't think I need any help in that department.

As for the Iron suit issue, that's a good point. Apparently he's a techie. He's really adept at certain electronic stuff when he needs to be, like when he was working for Dr. Swann, or when he assisted with the metallic suit of his, or when he needed to deactivate bombs. He's got all kinds of influence over some electronic stuff like machines and other technology, but I just don't see him sitting at a computer for a long enough time to figure out hacking, especially in order to be a total whiz at it.

Then its perfect for the wall-crawling "scoundral".

Isn't he a chemist, anyway?

Why would he be better with hacking? Because he's always on the WEB??

Oooh, sorry about that.

Ba doom!! He'll be here all week folks! Enjoy the buffet.:woot:

Yea, he's like a chemist/physics/electronics (spider tracers, Remember those?!) kind of guy.

Spiderman can do ANYTHING.

Depending on who's writing him, that is. :o

Try the veal!

So he's kind of like a renaissance man of science. Either way, I think he'd be more inclined to invent stuff more than sit on the computer.

Which reminds me! Now that he's outed in the media, why the hell doesn't he whip out those web shooters of his and create a company? Maybe sell that "webbing formula" he invented in high school that nobody else seems to be able to replicate. Just making a point: here's something he could do that is a positive for outing himself. Bam, make some of that proverbial "fat cash."

but thens hes not relatable, so lets make his powers come from a spider god:whatever:

sorry, but I think the title of "Marvel's Master Hacker" should probably go to Kitty Pryde.

If you want to make him good with computers, fine; but suggesting turning him into Marvel's version of Oracle is ridiculous.

So. No.

Hey. I don't know what everyone's problem is. We're all in some way connected with the totems in all our lives.

Spider-Man fights animalistic villains like The Vulture, the Rhino, Doctor Octopus, Kraven.... the Hunter (you know, because he.... hunts animals?), Mysterio (he's the totem of fish; you have to think about it, but it's there), Venom (because some animals are venomous), the Green, Hob and Demo Goblins (since... you know, goblins are kind of like animals, but sentient... and fantasy), and Sandman (I got nothin').

See? As a personal example, all my friends are total jerks. I've been a jerk since I can remember, and for my life people have been calling me a jerk. Why do you think this is? JMS was tackling some universal truths that are embedded in the human condition. One time I was in the parking lot of the video store, and I said something to make the guy outside beat me to death, but not before I grew weaponized bone protrusions and ate his face. I did die, but the Jerk God visited me and brought me back to life, so long as I embrace my true nature.

Totally relates. JMS is a genius. I'm sorry, what were we talking about?

Spider-Man should be Marvel's master chemist. The guy invented his web fluid before graduating high school. He developed a serum to fuse Dr. Octopus's tentacles together. He developed a temporary Lizard antidote. The guy's got a solid handle on chemistry that I think is unrivaled in the MU. And utterly forgotten about too.

So much so that no one really knows what his degree is supposed to be in (or if he even ever got his advanced degree in whatever that was)
