There was no light when the eclipse happened.
because the light that should have been there during the eclipse was inside of Hiros mother as the catalyst.

so does that mean the powers are caused by light from the sun?

If that was the case, then no one could ever use powers at night. There is still more solar radiation hitting the earth during an eclispe, and during night.

IMO the eclipse doesn't make sense. They've always had their powers even before the eclipse.

Does the sun effect the earth & other things in a different way when there is an eclipse compared to just the regular sun shining down on the earth?

They always made a big deal out of the first eclipse like it was something special for helping to either give or activate other peoples powers but there were people with powers long before any eclipse.

I can't use it... but I think that post needs a facepalm. Seriously

It may have sounded like a good theory... if Heroes was even half as thought out as that was. Let's remember, Sylar was "Yes, sir, dad", "I'm my own man! With my love, Elle", and "I'm just a monster, now you die Elle." IN ONE EPISODE. (Sure, it may have been the two parter, Eclipse, but there was only enough story for one episode, so it counts as one.)

the eclipse really doesnt make any sense,it doesnt seem logical that they get there powers from the sun,(even though the sun is pretty amazing, like how we can get vitamen c from it and i think vitemin c helps our organs and how it makes me have a beautiful tan in the summer, phycke just kidding, mad pale)

so they lost there powers during the eclipse,so if there powers come from the sun i guess that makes sense but how come the older powered poeple like arthur petrelli had no idea what was going on, are you telling me that over his life time he never noticed he couldnt use his abilities during an eclipse, and when hiro goes back in time to japan and meets adam an eclipse happens so how come adam never told anyone over his 400 years with powers that they should watch out for those eclipses because they depower us.
that just doesnt make any sense
