they love it
so do ravers, cheerleaders, meatheads, jocks, weightlifters, emo kids, asian nerds, gangbangers, the kids from Hebrew school, taxi drivers, firefighters, pencil pushers, bean counters, and of course your momma
everyone I've talked to on the street and every forum I've been to LOVES this movie. the only people who dont like this movie are under-educated and overly-pretentious geeks who think slamming this movie or BB is somehow "in the know"
the love for this movie is incredible especially outside the core audience of comic book geeks. as far as a batman story goes, it's kind of like the reaction when miller's TDKR had on the comic book world in the 80s, people are blown away and cant believe how good the story is, it basically changes how you look at Batman the character
seriously ive never seen people this excited for a movie since the matrix. it's getting better reviews from real-life people than LOTR (which I agree was overrated, esp ROTK). half of you who post on this board probably dont even have RL friends so cant verify this, but those of you who are cool like me and have a ton of friends will agree that everyone loves this movie... it's ESPECIALLY popular among people who dont usually like comic book movies
I had to drag my significant other to see TDK and after the movie she LOVED it and wants to see it again. that never happens. this is a person about as far from the target demographic as possible (we actually had a ludicrous discussion about whether to see this or mama mia a while back before I got the tickets... not that would ever happen... worst case would have been I see batman again, she sees mama mia and she's pissed at me for a week... but now everyone's glad we saw batman) as a point of reference she thought iron man was pointless but harmless, hellboy was "wierd" but she thought TDK was "really great" but "so sad."
