Sony confirms 2nd shipment coming middle of next week - Each Shipment = 100K units

Yes, more will be coming this week. It doesn't change the fact that the NA release numbers were absolutely pitiful.. capping probably around 250k.

Sony really did have their heads' up their asses, this time around. :o

I know you probably don't know this but i'm going to ask just in case. Do you have an accurate estimation in when the second shipment will ship and when we might get it. :D

Yeah, but they would've made a lot of their fans happier if they pushed the releases back a week or two to have more systems readily available.. It would've driven scalpers prices way down, which would've lowered their incentive to wait in line... It would've made their fans so much happier.

I mean, do they intentionally try to piss off their fanboys? Honestly?

Their fanboys won't be pissed off. The average gamer who wanted one and had to settle for a 360 or go without will be the ones who are pissed off. Them and the guys who bought one just to sell and will not get as much money as they had hoped.

That being said, Sony learned from Microsfot's launch mistake and they are pushing more out right away.

However

lolol

Are you serious? All I've seen PLENTY of PS3 fanboy's pissed off on numerous websites because of the launch of the PS3. Any human being who camped out for two days for something only to be turned away would be pissed. How did Sony learn from Microsoft's mistake? By selling EVEN LESS systems on launch day then the 360? Or by rushing their system out buggy as hell? Yeah, they really learned. Besides, the 2nd wave of 360's came out around this time, too, so there goes that argument. Sony made Microsoft's launch mistake look like nothing compared to their own.. And the worst part about it is that they really don't give a **** at all.

Are you serious? I've seen NONE post something like that.

Those who camped out and got turned away KNEW that was bound to happen. Don't kid yourself buddy, nobody in line that was not one of the first 10 in line honestly expected to get one.

Buggy as hell? Sounds like every other system at lunch and none had more bugs than the 360.

Short launch is a short launch, regardless if it were 300,000 or 500,000, it is still shorting the consumers and the differences are MINIMAL if any at all.

Wait, wait, wait....are you telling me the hundreds of people who camped out and got NOTHING did so 1day+ early with the desire to just to sit in a line in the cold and get shot at while *********ing to Final Fantasy tunes, and happily return home after having accomplished not a damn thing? LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL!!!

Desired and hoped, but for certain not expected. Unless of course they were not paying attention during the 360 debacle to learn that lesson.

hahaha, are you serious? People waited on line in the freezing cold to get a system for 2 DAYS... That's 48 hours.. Think about how long that is, staying in pretty much ONE SPOT for 48 hours.. Surrounded by a bunch of people who would stab you in the neck with a screwdriver for that last PS3 (to sell on eBay, of course.) I've read PLENTY of complaints on Sony's launch. You must not have gotten the news yet in Lala land.. If you were on 1UP, Gamestop, IGN, or GameFAQ's around noon on Friday, you would've seen how many people were pissed off for waiting for NOTHING. People weren't like, ":) Okay, we'll just do this again next week, we have nothing better to do with our lives.. Not like we called out of work for a couple of days or anything. :)" To say that people weren't upset is just a ******ed thing to say.

There are the same bugs with the PS3 as the 360.. The system overheats very easily.. The thing gets way hotter then the 360 and there's no powerbrick so the actual system itself is what gets hot.

Well, the 360 actually shipped at 400k units.. The PS3 supposedly said they were going to but now reports are coming out that it only shipped at 250k.. 150k units is a lot of systems.. So Sony actually learned nothing from Microsoft's mistake and did the same thing only worse.

Well, if you wait 2 days in a line, you're obviously are expecting a system.. Why else would you wait there? Once again, the 360 "debacle" makes this look like a walk in the park.

And if you call the 360 launch a "debacle" what would you call this? :o

I think Sony learned from what happened with Microsoft, it's just that they were effectively powerles to do anything about it because the diod in in extremely short supply. We still don't have any concrete numbers just analyst estimates and projections, I'm looking forward to the November NPD. That's going to be one of the most interesting monthly sales reports in a long time.

We still don't really know how much Sony did or didn't ship.

I hit enter too soon when replying to axid. Anyway, yeah people waited in line because they knew the system was getting shipped short. Expected to get one, no, hoped YES.

Seems like a pretty simple thing to recognize to me.

I doubt anybody is THAT stupid. You are waiting in line because you know the system is being shipped short, and you want one. You guys are trying to create an argument where there really isn't one. You think that all 70 people waiting in line at my local Best Buy REALLY expected to get a shipment that was being shipped short, even shorter than the 360 (though not by much)?

Come on man. If you really think so then, well, I will PM those thoughts to you.

I don't know, it would seem to me if Sony learned from Microsoft's mistake they wouldn't launch at under 500k units.. That's just me though. They rushed the system out when they weren't exactly prepared to.

I dont go to many forums as I work all day, please enlighten me as to the complaints on the PS3. I would be really interested in reading some articles and such. I have not heard a single one. I should check IGN or some other site maybe but again, it is a time issue.

if you have any sites you could send me to I would appreciate it.

I'm not talking about the 70th person in line that got there on Friday morning. I'm talking about the people that were there for two days.. Again, if they waited in line for two days, they were expecting to get a system, there's no getting around it.. They wouldn't have waited if they didn't think that they were going to get one.. It's as simple as that.

I seriously haven't found a single report on the net about a PS3 dyign because of overheating, and the 360 had plenty of those. Am I missing some reports? I would't say the PS3 has the heating problems of the 360, based soley on the lack of reports I've seen and the owner account of the extent that 360's would overheat.

The only PS3 complaint I had (based on my very limited experience) was the controller was small. They shrunk it a bit, I didn't care for that to much. I have not heard of anything else but the one in the store I played it at had been running non stop and constantly had people at it playing the game all day and it had no signs of overheating, even being stuffed into the demo security box they put them in.

I know that many of the 360 overheating complaints were probably due to owner error, not giving it enough space to "breathe". I am willing to bet the PS3 issue is probably the same.

I think that getting rid of that god awful brick and having the power source inside the machine is way more appealing than having it setup like the 360, I just hope it doesn't cause these overheating issues you mention.

Go to the forums on www.ign.com www.1up.com www.gamestop.com and www.gamefaqs.com and look back to the launch day. You'll see there.. And there's also a poster here, I forget his name, who waited on line for a very long time and just barely missed out on getting one. He was very vocal about being frustrated as well.. Also, look at the news.. Look at how much violence resulted from people finding out that they weren't going to get a system.. The people on line definately were expecting to get one and acted violently when they didn't. I saw it first hand. On Thursday night I drove past Best Buy to see how the line was and there were 10 cop cars there questioning people. Best Buy employees came out and told the people how many systems they were going to have and when people heard the small number, they started throwing crap at them.. And then people tried to cut the line and huge fights started. If they were just "hoping" to get a system they would've quietly went home, but they were pissed for waiting so long in line to get something that they expectly only to come home with nothing.

I've heard on a few forums about it.. But everyone said that it's because of owner error justlike the 360.. Just sticking them in entertainment centers with nowhere to breathe.

That is what baffles me, anyone who is waiting in line must watch the news or rad the paper/internet and KNOW that it is being shipped short. Thus they go wait in line hoping to get a system. Expecting, doubtful really due to the news of the short shipment being EVERYWHERE. Now if someone knew this AND went to wait in line for 2 days expecting to get one, well then they are easily one of the biggest morons around.
