Okay, one thing that really, REALLY got on my nerves when I was watching the old Transformers cartoon movie the other day was how either 80's hairband rock or dull, synthesized score played under every scene. I hope to God that this new film will have some better music. What are some kickass songs that YOU would like to see during an Optimus Prime/Megatron slugfest? Here are some songs that I think could be really cool... they really don't have any lyrical relevance to the subject matter... they're just kickass tunes that either sound futuristic or are just really rokken.

"Down" by Stone Temple Pilots

"Where's Gerrold?" by Orgy

"How Can I Hold On?" by Stabbing Westward

"The Becoming" by Nine Inch Nails

"The Everlasting Gaze" by The Smashing Pumpkins

More?

While I prefer a musical score to actual songs there are cases where it works. Like in the 300 trailer. Something like that would work for me.

A score would help keep the film "timeless". I mean the "80's hairband" music in TF:TM worked for it's time period (and me being a product of that time period, still works whenever I watch it :P) however now it seems corny to the new generation. Similarly if we have music that's currently "trendy" in a few years it will become corny to the next gen.

That's why music from films like Star Wars and Superman can work in any time-period, and the music from TF:TM can't.

IMO of course ;)

I agree. They should keep it Orchestral.
Pretty much the only thing that irks me with the Spider-man movies (and I love them!) is the modern rock credits. I hate it.

I think this would fit better up there. :D

I agree, a musical score would be better, however if I had to put a song in there I would most definatly put Exo-Politics by MUSE in there

I also think a musical score would be very fitting for the film.

no.

the only song i care whether or not we hear in the film is 'the touch'... it just has to be in a transformers movie. have bumblebee play it or something.

and, i could be wrong, but doesn't bay usually do all original music for his movies? the only movie of his i can think of that had actual songs in it was bad boys 1 and 2.

The touch would be great, still listen to it sometimes. But what I want to hear the most is the Transformers Theme when it's time for the final showdown and a handful of Autobots and Decepticons duke it out on the streets.

A Transformers theme (from any season) inspired musical piece is a MUST-HAVE in my opinion. It doesn't need be a replica (that would be corny)... but something reminiscent of it (that hits the same keys and notes).

I've heard techno and ambient pieces that paid homage to the theme... as well as video games I think. Why can't the makers of this movie do the same???

I mean, IMHO, The Hulk sucked because it lacked any semblence of the Hulk series I grew up with... and which had one of the best theme songs ever. Anything would have been nice.

CFlash you talking about the 80's animted Hulk show, where Hulk would revert back to Banner and he would be fully clothed? Or you talking about the Bill Bixby one? Both had awesome memorable themes imo.

As far as Soundwave, i'd like to hear him play TF:The Movie theme performed by Lion.

They need to have Saliva write a new song for the movie. That would be awsome.

Say, does someone know where to find the Transformers Theme by Dropbox?

As an homage to the 80's movie BB should play You've got the Touch!

After reading the screenplay, a couple of funny songs that Bumblebee could play on main character's "first date" (I'm pretty sure this aspect was in there):

"I can feel it in the air tonight." That would be hilarious and definitely embarresing, for the main character.

Bumblee speaks through the radio, part of which is songs- if I remember correctly- been a while since I've read the screenplay.

Other than that and Soundwave I think they should stick to orchestral for the most part.

But, come on- the car driving scenes are probably going to have songs... playing on the radio and such, just how things roll- can't have orchestral music coming out or no music (if it's playing) that really wouldn't make sense.

So, orchestral primarily with a couple of songs ranging from 80s to now.

There is nothing worse than dating a movie by using songs-of-the-moment... unless the movie is meant to be dated (like Fast Times at Ridgemont High, etc).

They should stick with classic rock/whatever (if they must) not current hits. Imagine if Star Wars had Disco music in it? Ugh!

The screenplay does call for some modern rock in it at times, I believe... with various 'MUSIC BLARES HERE:' 'MUSIC PLAYS AS:' 'MUSIC BOOMS AS:' throughout the script. So, yeah there's going to be all sorts of music.

From classic rock to modern rock.

But, for the most part- as I said, it's probably going to be orchestral.

I would prefer if it was mostly silence and barely-musical sound effects, like in the trailer.

I'm fed up with faux-epic melodramatic scores.

I don't know if I like that idea. I saw a version of the trailer with that one song from Requiem of a Dream (I know, I know...a bit overplayed) and it increased the effect of the trailer for me. The music-less trailer reminded me too much of T3 where they only played the score during the credits. Very ineffective for me.
