..can't be assed searching at marvel.com

..checked, 6th december.
Think Il pick up #1 and see if I like it.

I think it looks absoultely terrific.

It's the closest thing Spidey's gonna have to 'The Dark Night Returns,' it better be bloody good!

Do you not that’s a little contrived tho,
Like a DKR wannabe?

Kinda... now that you mention it.

Well, I read in a promo that it started as kinda a Spider-Man: The End. But then I read an interview with Kaare, and in regards to the continuity of it, he pretty much desrcibed how he hopes that people will like it enough to consider it canon if they want. Which is EXACTLY how DKR is regarded.

I've never heard Kaare say he wanted it to be like DKR, that was my observation. So hopefully he decided to take a very riginal route with it.

personally, I think he'll be great. I love Kaare's work.

I'll be getting it. Dangerous you're excited about it aren't you?

At first I was a little doubtful, but now I'm strongly considering picking it up.

Not so much excited but I am more interested in it now compared to when I first read about it.
What I am excited about is Civil War ending and SM getting back into the red and blues or black suit, and things hopefully levelling out a bit.

Well, when Loeb and Campbell take over, Peter is supposed to be working at the Bugle again, as a photographer, with his good ol' supporting cast to boot, as well as a line of classic villains. They said the aim is to go back to ho Stan Lee was handling the charcter in the late 60's to early 70's.

Don't ask me how the hell they're going to get there, I've been wondering this since the unmasking. But apparently, that's the plan...

Sounds like you could do with simply buying the Essential Spider-Man-books. ;)

Here's some page samples.

I do really like the art here, much more than Andrews usual boring painted stuff.
I also think it is very reminiscent of the art style FM used in DKR, but it also looks like an animated film.
Notice how he is either sourcing photos or CG images for backgrounds too.
The art I am excited about, the rest I am dubious.
Speaking of DRK,- the way KA has described Reign sounds very clichéd and done before.

KA- “Peter Parker, Mary Jane, Aunt May, Jonah Jameson… And I need to apologize to them because they will hurt. They will feel pain. They will suffer. And when they need strength the most… I’m going to take it all away.

“But the big secret is we all have that thing. Whether it’s running, collecting stamps, painting or playing guitar. This is what makes us human, what gives us warmth. Peter’s going to show us what happens when we push it back down. There are lessons here but there is only one class, pain.’

To me it sounds like a DKR clone,- SM quits then returns, it is a very dark tale w/ his supporting cast feeling pain blah, blah.
We will see.

Lol, that did occur to me as I wrote that.

Well, Loeb did write one of the most heartwarming Spidey stories of the last 10 years... So I'm keeping my hopes up with him.

Loving those images...

Yea, HE does sound cliched as he speaks, (he's trying to sound like an over the top twisted soul in his lines, lol,) but so does Frank Miller when he speaks, doesn't stop him from writing great stuff, (when he gets it right.)

And DKR came out nearly 20 years ago, SOP MANY super heroes have gotten that treatment, why not our fave one? I honestly think there's nothing wrong with it.

While I did whince over some of the lines he said, if you read the interview in it's entirety, he comes over as someone who genuinel cares for what he's doing, and the characters. Which is SO FAR removed from many current writer/artists being interviewed nowadays, so I really don'r see it as a bad thing.

Honestly, I'll be picking up the first issue, at least. I'm a fan of Kaare Andrews's work. When he's on, he's on. The concept may have been done, but it's never been done to Spidey, so I'll give it a shot.

Personally, I hope it rocks.

KA is a true fan and also a creator which is great considering the general direction of SM of late.
I hope Reign is good.
All I'm saying is DKR has already been done and then copied by others.
I just hope Reign is not too predictable.

I'll definitely be checking this bad boy out.

The title has already given me one good thing, watching some of the fans around here flip out...thinking that it was confirmation on the death of the regular universe MJ. :oldrazz:

How so? There's been no confirmation whatsoever that's gonna happen

Besides, JQ may hate the marriage, but he's constantly stated that being divorced would age him more, and being a widower would make him seem insanley older! The main reason JQ hates the marriage is that it ages Peter too much in his eyes.

Well the cover to the first issue strongly implied it, with Peter holding a grave that had Mary Jane's name on it. And yea, he's said that on the 616 universe MJ, but this is an alternate future, he wouldn't have to worry about killing her that much in this book. Also, Peter is already somewhat old in this book, so he doesn't have to worry about her death "aging" him too much necesarily.

All very true, but how many times in the last 5 years have Marvel covers, and Marvel as a company gone out of their ways to do fake outs?

The Sentry, Ronin, Phoenix/Colossus returning, Spider-Man 'dies,' Speedball dying, Foggy dying, the Winter soldier not being Bucky, The Red Skull dying, Ultimate Gwen dying, UFF's 'Crossover,' into the 616 U actually being the Marvel Zombies intro... I could go on for a long time

Well apparently killing does get easier after the first time, because unless I'm mistaken he threw that bad boy off a roof! Badass.

Looks like a DKR.

That's how Wikipedia describes it. Set 35 years into the future.

And since Ock is rearing his head in this, I'll be picking it up too.

After seeing that cover with Octopus on it, it makes me wonder:

The synopsis refers to 'formally' as Otto Octavious - do think that perhaps 35 years in the future Otto himself is dead and his arms carry around his corpse?

Looking at the picture, Otto does indeed look dead and that electricity cursing around the arms certainly looks interesting.

That would be a neat idea to see, if it's true.
