Stan Lee, the comic book legend behind Iron Man, Spider-Man and the X-Men, will create a different kind of superhero in a new TV series starring James Nesbitt as a detective who can control luck.

Starring James Nesbitt (The Hobbit), Joseph Gatt (Star Trek, Game Of Thrones), Andrew Lee Potts (Primeval), Sienna Guillory (Resident Evil), Amara Karan (The Darjeeling Limited), Omid Djalili (The Mummy) and Steven Mackintosh ( The Underworld film series).

Surprised there wasn't a thread for this show yet. First episode was pretty good. Stan made his traditional cameo appearance. Boat chase was cool.

Show turned out to be pretty good. Season 2 is confirmed for next year.

The guy who played mohinder on heroes is far more entertaining in this show.

Second season starts 24th February

Season 2 synopsis
It would seem Harry is not the only person with a lucky charm this time around, as he spots Isabella (Dutch actress Thekla Reuten), wearing a bracelet identical to his. Harry thought he had his gambling addiction under control and was back on track, but this meeting with a fellow ‘lucky’ person, could mean his luck is about to change…
Returning cast alongside Nesbitt and Karan includes Eve Best (Nurse Jackie), Sienna Guillory (Fortitude), Steven Mackintosh (The Halcyon) and Darren Boyd (Fortitude).

Joining Season 2 along with Dutch actress Reuten are Conleth Hill (Game Of Thrones), Jonathan Aris (The Night Manager) and Matthew McNulty (The Musketeers)

The first season of he show is available on iTunes in the U.S

Just watched the first episode. It's not bad and looks promising. London looks much more glamorous here than in other UK shows. The cinematography is more like what you'd see in a Bond movie or other Hollywood films.

They could have connected this to the MCU if they really wanted. I know he's not specifically a Marvel character per se, but he's a Stan Lee character, which almost makes him Marvel. It could be as connected as the Netflix shows, which means not very much. Marvel ought to expand into British TV for a change.

A lot directors came up or grew up watching 'Kitchen sink dramas' so a lot British shows and movies take their visual cues from that. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kitchen_sink_realism

Over recent years some shows have started taking a more 'Hollywood' approach. Filming in the more trendy or shiny locations.

The show gets better as it goes along.

That's interesting. I think that's what I don't like generally about British shows and why I don't watch most of them but watch almost exclusively American shows: because of their kitchen sink realism. I prefer it more escapist because I don't want to just watch what is all around me in London already. I don't think it's just to do with locations though, but also the style of filming and cinematography. Someone could equally film locations like the Shard, the Gerkin or Tower Bridge and still have it look very dull and dreary compared to the way it's filmed here.

I have noticed before that older British films or shows don't have that kitchen sink realism and are slightly more idealised. I couldn't quite put my finger on why that was. They probably predate those kitchen sink dramas.

Just finished the first season. It was generally good. I had a sneaking suspicion towards the end of the season that

(Nikhail Julian) Sendhil Ramamurthy was Golding. I didn't think it would turn out to be Frierson. After all, Julian seemed to be getting too close to Clayton's wife and seemed like he had ulterior motives. And he was the only other person in the end who might seem like the one audiences might be least likely to suspect (although he probably was most suspected). Also, if you're going to get Sendhil Ramamurthy for a series like this, he's probably the villain.

I found the ending of the season finale a bit too abrupt though. Golding escaped, but Clayton pulled his daughter out of the pool. She was shown to be alive, and then it just ended. I was hoping to at least have an epilogue of some sort showing that Harry was exonerated, that Eve was freed and to see whether Winter survived and if Harry and Suri were a team again. It's like they just ran out of film. There should've been some kind of mini resolution, even knowing that Golding was still out there.

I've watched the first 4 episodes of Season 2 now.

The first episode was quite good, and looked promising. But then the 2nd episode went downhill quite a bit. That was the one about the gay people being murdered and the dodgy priest. That was quite possibly the worst episode of the entire series. It felt very episodic suddenly, like a villain of the week, and suddenly the action quotient of the show went down dramatically. It was now almost like any other British TV series and somewhat slower moving. What happened to the set pieces?

The next episode was a slight improvement where they caught Golding, but even that was a bit anticlimactic. But it started becoming a bit odd with some rather quirky and whimsical music playing whenever Harry was with Isabella. I don't really like her character, and I'm not really liking the direction this series is taking. The episode with the hacker also continued in this vein.

It just seems as if it's settling into a standard British TV series, and as if they lowered the budget. There was more action in the first season and I generally found the stories more interesting. Now it's really becoming villain of the week and not quite as high octane. I thought it would be more comic booky this season, but at the moment, Harry still doesn't seem to be fully using his bracelet to his advantage. It only gets showcased in tiny flashes in an episode.

I hope it improves and doesn't stay with this tone. I also notice that Eve's presence seems to be reduced this season.

The third season of Lucky Man sends Nesbitt’s Harry Clayton to Hong Kong, looking for answers about his ‘lucky’ charm. There, he comes up against some nasty underworld characters who have their eyes on more than just his bracelet.

Rupert Penry-Jones (Spooks/MI5, Black Sails and The Strain) joining season 3 as the new nemesis of Harry Clayton.

When is it back on? Do we have a date?

That's ages away. Did it play that late last time?

Season 2 first broadcast on 24 February 2017 and finished airing on 28 April 2017.

The show was renewed for a third season on 25th August 2017 and began filming in September. Production on Season 3 only wrapped last week (February the 14).

It will probably take them a couple months to work on post production so Summer is the earliest they can probably air the next season.

Will they show Big Ben in scaffolding or will we have a CG version of one that is fully restored? I guess it doesn't matter if it's not all set in London, but London is a big character in itself in this series.

Anyone see the season 3 premiere this week? It was set in Hong Kong with Harry fighting a new nemesis with super strength who seems immune to the bracelet's lucky charms.

He's also fighting off a murder charge for the framed murder of Isabella Augustine from last season.

Harry on the run trying to clear his name with his luck working against him should make a interesting season 3.

Season 3 was pretty good.

This seems to be the end of Harry Clayton's story as Lucky Man. They left the door open for someone in the future to take up the role as bracelet wearer if the want to soft reboot the show

I have a feeling it will be the final season, unless Harry somehow dons the other bracelet. Will have to see what happens tonight in the finale (well, tomorrow for me).

But Suri is gone (that was a shock) and there's such a fracture between Harry and Eve now that I don't see how they can go on.

This feels like the final season, which is a shame. I don't feel they really got to explore the more fun side of the bracelet and having luck that allowed ridiculous feats etc.

I have to say that Sienna Guillory looks like a more stressed out and bitter version of Meredith Monroe. There's always something in her eyes or face that conveys a sense of anguish as if she's carrying around the weight of the world on her shoulders.

Well it definitely looks like the end of the series. I don't know how they'd bring it back without it feeling tacked on. Unless they have a new cast and reboot it or have Harry as the mentor. It's probably better to end it on this note.
