TMZ has learned that Ben Stiller is in talks with Tom Cruise about starring in an updated version of The Hardy Boys at 20th Century Fox.

Tentatively titled The Hardy Men, the comedy would be directed by Stiller's Night at the Museum helmer Shawn Levy, who was just announced as the new director for Warner Bros. Pictures' The Flash.

The "Hardy Boys" detective novels date back to 1927, though a variety of ghost writers using the pen name of Franklin W. Dixon kept Frank and Joe Hardy perpetual teenagers.

The site says The Hardy Men would have them finally grown up, but up to their old tricks once more.

:wow::huh::wow:

It could be good depending on who writes the script. Of course it would have to be good in order for Cruise to accept it.

it sounds fun, i am a fan of cruise as an actor, not as a person, but i think it would be funny to see him not take himself so seriously for the first time since Magnolia (his best performence)

^^ No, I think Cruise sees Stiller as B.O. GOLD and BULLETPROOF in terms of a hit, and he knows his career is in neutral right now!

I thought these guys were the Hardy Boys.

Remember that skit at the MTV Movie Awards back when Cruise was pushing MI:II? Where Ben Stiller was Cruise's "stunt double"?? Still did a WICKED job of mocking him in the skit!

He didn't mock him he worked with him on something funny and if you read the article it reads that Stiller has approached Cruise

hehe you know...this might actually be a funny movie. :) The two are so complete opposites it could really work.

Well no kidding he worked with him!?? :ninja:

It'll probably be funny if it even happens...I just wanted to punch Cruise in the stomach for a few posts.

This could be the start of something:

Burns and Allen

Crosby and Hope

Abbott and Costello

Martin and Lewis

and now

Cruise and Stiller

Maybe they can redo the Road pictures next.

2 actors I don't like and a horrible directer. Ugh.

Shut up!
This cant be for real...can it?

It's the best MTV Movie Awards sketch by a long, long way. It's brilliant. I'd even say it's one of the best things Stiller has ever done.

This mission....just got a hell of a lot more impossible!

In a negative way right ?:csad:

Can you not see this movie already?

Cruise as the no-nonsense, super-cool sharp-shooter (i.e. typical Tom Cruise performance), and Stiller always trying to impress him but messing up and trying to maintain his dignity (i.e. typical Ben Stiller performance).

Watch their MI2 sketch. It's a great combo.

All i see in my mind is Starsky and Hutch 2 with Cruise sporting a permy wig:woot:

"Does a little dance" Yippie! Best news I've heard all day. It sounds better than that stupid Nancy Drew movie coming out:woot:

Actually this reminds me a little of the Hardy Boys Casefiles.

This sounds cool.
I hope this is true, 'cause I am so looking forward to this.
