Thought the season was pretty average, not great, but not terrible? It was a very enjoyable ride though.

All the complaints have been hit on the head though, more or less. But I need Mike to do more and Eleven's backstory to have a bit more oomph, particularly when she meets Kali. I can see the X-Men stuff going on there, and it wasn't a terrible aside from the main plot, but I really felt like they should've elaborated a bit more on why or how these children and their powers are first discovered. What draws them together etc.

Max was great, but the show needs to make sure it doesn't feel like adults are writing these kids with these love triangles. Some of the decisions felt a bit...inorganic and forced.

Get all the hooplah about Steve and Bob finally though, which is good. They deserve it.

Am I the only one who didn't get an X Men vibe from ep 7

Proceed with cutting onions :cry::waa:

The amount of detail in this show is really impressive.

Hopper giving Eleven his bracelet to wear is too sweet.

Really my only complaints about this season were

1) Episode 7 was awful.
2) Billy was pointless
3) Mike needs to apologize to Max for treating her so terribly all season.

I don't think episode 7 was as bad as people make it out to be. While it's the weakest episode thus far, it was a necessary episode to help grow Eleven's overall story and introduce us to a possible villain with Kali in season 3.

Billy was fine as a supporting character/villain. His character could play a bigger role next season. Perhaps Billy will come across Kali and she'll use him.

The big thing I wanted to see this season was Mike apologizing to Max and accepting her the group of friends. I wasn't overly bothered by his behaviour towards her until episode 8 when he told her, once again, she wasn't welcomed. I genuinely felt bad for Max as she just wanted friends. Moving forward, I hope we see Max play a key part of the group and I hope we can at least see Mike treat her nicely. I do wonder if there was a scene where Mike said sorry to Max but the Duffer Brothers cut it due to timing as episode 9 is an hour long.

Nearly finished the season, but I just had to say... episode 7 suuuuucked so much.

Shocking stuff.

Episode 7 did feel like a different show. It wasn't bad, it just felt out of place, especially after Kali's lead-in in S2-1. I was expecting more from that. And it wasn't really needed, as it seems the only take-away was Eleven/Jane discovering where her home truly was.

Again, not bad, just out of place. And considering how much they put into it, I would expect to see Kali and Crew more in S3. The best take-away from 7 was her hair-do!

I really liked this and watched in all in one day. Just like Season 1. It didn't have the 'chills' of the first season as we are well aware now of the demogorgons, but it was still very entertaining. The Feels still exist for the whole crew, including the new-comers.

[BLACKOUT]I liked Max a lot, and I could see why Mike would have problems, not with her personally, but with just another girl trying to join the crew, when he's still missing Elle. Her step-brother is a dick, but then seeing how he is treated by his father, it explains - if not excuses - his attitude. We'll see where he goes in S3, but Max certainly laid down the law - as well as the bat! That was cool!

The only thing I didn't like about this season, was the lack of Eleven being with the team. I was hoping it wouldn't take too long for her to return, but instead they waited until the second to last episode! Grrrr. I would have loved to have seen her go out on Halloween. That could have been a trip!

All the rest are great, but Eleven - or Jane now - is a highlight, and not having them all together made it feel a little off. But, over and done until next year... The only major downside to streaming the whole season at once. [/BLACKOUT]:csad:

Overall, I did like this season a bit better than the first, but I will admit there's a conflict in my mind over the 008 episode. It was a great episode on its own, and teases some fascinating possibilities for next season, but breaking away from Hawkins in the middle of the cliffhanger is questionable. They also relied a bit more on subplots and breaking up the party this season, so you have to square with that if you judge the show.

I actually just finished a small podcast series on Season 2, complete with some predictions in the last episode. It's a little sloppy; I kind of did a combination reaction and commentary. If anybody's interested, just search "of stranger things than these" on Apple podcasts. Don't follow the link in my signature, it's broken.

I can see Erica becoming the Lyanna Mormont of Stranger Things.

S2 killed it in the ratings.

According to Nielsen data released Thursday, each episode of the season drew more than 4 million viewers per episode, and with more than 3 million of those falling in the key adults 18-49 demographic within the first three days of its release (Oct. 27-29) . Episode 1 of the new season averaged a whopping 15.8 million viewers with approximately 11 million in the key demo, also within the first three days. And for the true bingers out there, 361,000 people watched all nine episodes of the season within the first 24 hours of its release.

As a whole, the season averaged 8.8 million viewers per episode with 6.2 million in the key demo.

Yo you know who needs to die next season? I think his name is Tommy, the toxic fried to Steve in season 1. The freckled face kid.
Yeah he gotta go. For sure my least favorite

This is the greatest

"Code: Shut. Your. Mouth"

Also The Duffer Bros had this to say about Billy
Matt: Billy was supposed to have a bigger role. We ended up having so many characters it ended up, in a way, more teed up for season three than anything. There was a whole teen supernatural story line that just got booted because it was just too cluttered, you know? A lot of that’s just getting kicked into season three.

I'm a couple of episodes into season 2 now. Really enjoyed season 1 and the ending to it.

He has a very punchable face too. :hehe:

Did anyone else suspect that Billy might be gay? He almost seemed to be flirting with Steve in shower scene.

That's a prevailing theory.

I'm not sure. Some dudes just talk like that even in the shower. I wouldn't be surprised. Although I think they might be wary of making the only gay character a bad guy.

They might have some kind of redemptive arc planned for him. Or maybe not. It would be ballsy to try and turn what was such a detestable guy around to the light, but it might also be daring in its own way to just leave him an irredeemable *****e.

Finished season 2 last night. It was good, not on the level of season 1 but I put season 1 in the ballpark of one of the single best seasons of TV I've ever seen, I watched it twice over the course of a week and I want to watch it again.

Like a lot of people EP.7 felt weird and out of place. It had the X-men first class vibe with the power training, Guardians of the Galaxy with the "Cherry Bomb" music montage with a little star wars with Kali trying to pull 11 to the dark side. None of which is stranger things to me. The first season of Stranger Things is more Spielberg, it has hints of Close Encounters, Jaws, ET with the mystery and the creature that goes bump in the night.

Season 2 is more PTSD war film with demonic possession. While it was still good it didn't have that sense of wonder and awe that the first season had. The characters were on point so I'll give it that, I hated Steve in the first season but loved him in the second, talk about character development, they nailed him.

Looking forward to season 3.

I hope they don't redeem him. They already did it with Steve. And while Steve was nowhere near as bad as Billy but still. They don't need another bad guy turns good thing.

I'd say it's a bit more Gremlins, Aliens, and The Exorcist. With a little tiny bit of "IT"
