Ok so basically I'm gonna be stuck for a week at disneyland in sunny orlando florida but I'd like a day to get away and actually go do some sight seeing as the un-magical kingdoms got nothing for me.

so I need help on some of the local comic shops I should visit and other cool geek/nerd related things.

.....you're complaining about being stuck in Disneyworld?!

There aren't really many comic geek/nerd related places in Florida.:(

I don't know if you knew this, but Disneyland is in California, DisneyWorld is in Orlando.

In Miami at least theres 3 different comic book stores within a 15 mile radius. I'll assume that up north, since more white people live there, there would be even more shops. There's always Islands of Adventure.

Not exactly. It's like a land in IOA. The way Magic Kingdom has Tomorrowland, IOA has a Marvel themed area.

That's where I usually go. It's a pretty good place.

That's ACME. They're solid. Lots of comics, but they're known more for their old action figures. That's what I go there for, anyway.

My favorite shop in town is Coliseum of Comics in the Fashion Square Mall (upstairs next to Dillards.) It's smaller than ACME and doesn't carry nearly as many toys, but they have a fantastic selection of trade paperbacks.

If you're out by Florida Mall, you can try Bad Apple Comics, just across Orange Blossom Trail from the Toys R Us. They're basically a smaller, hipper version of ACME.

DisneyWorld pwns DisneyLand...enjoy it and stop complaining like your above it. You watch their movies, you've grown up on it...I suppose you boycott other things like McDonalds and Coca-Cola...niether of those corporate giants have amusement parks...or monorails.

Oh great. A tourist info thread. Why not just invite all the camera-wielding old people with short shorts in here? :cmad:

I've never been to Disneyworld or Disneyland...
My parents suck:cmad: :csad:

Yup I'll be going to Orlando.
Yeah I grew up and do love Disney and all and dont boycott coke or McD's. I'm not a godamn hippie.
Basically..let me break it down for you...this is a family trip, now to use the term "family" would be useing it losely. Put it this way...my birthday isn't celebrated or even acknowledeged and it's on christmas f--kin day.

its my oldest sister her husband and kids, my other sis and her husband and kids and my mom and dad and myself going. Basically, I'm by myself (which is ******ed cuz I had even suggested I bring a friend or "friend" along) so I'm looking for other things to do around Orlando that I would like to do/try/see.
Call me ******ed but when I travel I like to see OTHER comic shops. It's neat to see other peoples stores.

Besides a week being emerssed in all things Disney? Who else would throw themselves in front of an oncoming monorail.
