Sun's Fading Spots Signal Big Drop in Solar Activity

Whatever that means , it doesn't sound good at all.

lol awesome. Looks like those magnetic flares won't be a problem anymore.

Sounds like we really dont know much about sun spot cycles at all, after reading the article. They only have 25 cycles recorded. How much info can be taken from two dozen cycles when the sun is billions of years old? Granted I'm no astronomer but dont sun spots usually burst and create solar plumes? Those plumes then can knock out satellites. If there is a slowing of the sun spots, isnt that good news for earth satellites?

No magnetic disturbances from the sun? Ok. Awesome. Case closed.

could be the calm before the storm. "experts" have been predicting that the sun will be extremely active in 2012.

wtf? no one mentioned Mayans or the 2012 theory. scientists and experts have been predicting that the sun will be extremely active next year independent from all the 2012 mumbo jumbo. not saying that it will end our world or anything, just making an observation. this news goes against the theory that the will build up to a solar maximum, so it's possible that this is the calm before a storm. it's also entirely possible that the scientific experts were wrong about next year and the sun will remain the way it currently is.

Maybe the Sun is getting ready to explode on December 21,2012.

Too much coincidence.

I'm building a bomb shelter with an uber heating system.

From the article:

Currently, the sun is in the midst of the period designated as Cycle 24 and is ramping up toward the cycle's period of maximum activity. However, the recent findings indicate that the activity in the next 11-year solar cycle, Cycle 25, could be greatly reduced. In fact, some scientists are questioning whether this drop in activity could lead to a second Maunder Minimum, which was a 70-year period from 1645 to 1715 when the sun showed virtually no sunspots.
