Superman: Brainiac Attacks review

wow. that sounds awful. just awful. how could they screw up something that they already got right?

And thats what you get when Timm has nothing to do with it and you have the people from the batman making it. Well I guess I just saved $20.

Im dissapointed very much so by that review.

Dreadd did you see "Ultimate Avengers"? It was perhaps the biggest disappointment ever, the movie is mediocre crap... I'm sure there's another DTV out there more worthy of the title.

I try not to give a crap what reviewers think, I'll check this out when it comes out and make my own opinion.

I'll watch it, but I already knew it was going to be garbage.

Wow. I knew it was going to be bad, but that bad? Christ. At least TB can make a good DTV. See what happens when you make something from Timmverse without actually having Timm on board?

^Heck yeah.
The Batman vs. Dracula was pretty good and better than any episode.

I feel sorry for the TB people who actually put it out thinking it was going to be good.

I think they were following the same idea that started with TB. With TB, they used the idea that Batman was beginning his crusade because thats what was going on in Batman Begins. With this movie, since Superman Returns keeps the spirit of the original film series, they did the same here.

I believe, and I hope, that down the line when the TB crew get the chance to make a Superman series they will look at this movie and know what was wrong to make.

Recently with TB, its proven.

I did see Ultimate Avengers and I liked it, although jaydawg can't understand why. The difference is straightfoward to me; my expectations are lower for Marvel animated projects, especially after a drought of some 2 years since EVOLUTION ended, and I have a pro-Marvel bias. I see it as something like X-MEN was in 2000; not a great movie in itself, but as the set-up chapter to introduce a team, a universe, and have some action, its not bad.

DC-related toons, on the other hand, have been setting THE standard for animation for the past 12 years, so they always have high bars to climb. That said, the trailer to BRAINIAC ATTACKS wasn't thrilling me, and the reviews aren't promising. But I'll still rent it, even if its not canonical. Obviously the WB wanted to crank out ANY new Superman animated material now that SUPERMAN RETURNS is hitting threatres in June, and obviously the rush job treatment is what they got. But I'll judge fully next month, or whenever I rent it.

Why in God's name did they re-cast Lex, Brainiac and Mercy?! For that reason alone I will not watch this. For shame.

holy ****. I knew it would be bad from the trailer...but holy ****. That sounds billions of times worse than I thought.

I liked UA btw.:o

I liked UA,kinda, I just wish that the action would have been a bit more smooth and it would have followed the Comic better and more accurately. The idea with the Aliens was ok i just wish that the animationn was more DCUA level.

I guess I should talk about UA, too.

I liked UA. It was good, not great. I was left with wanting more, as others were. Its a good thing theres a UA2 coming sooner than later. Otherwise I would've waited for as long as it took for another movie to coem out and get that with UA.

Powers Boothe as Lex Luthor? Wasn't Boothe the voice of Grodd on Justice League? How did he go from being Grodd to being Lex? Oh Clancy Brown, where have you gone?

I'll probably rent it though just to hear Tim Daly doing the Superman voice again. Nothinga gainst George Newbern, but I'd like to hear Daly's Superman again.

See I'm more critical of Marvel for the exact reasons why you're so relaxed when rating them. I love Marvel's characters moreso than DC and because of the incredibly high DCAU quality, I further critize them. But even with those biases, I just cant understand how anyone can enjoy UA.

Thank you for posting this review. You just saved me £15

Shouldn't this actually be in one of the Superman forum pages?

Nope because it pertains to a tv stationed Universe and it is based off a TV show. It belongs here because the JLU forum is gone and this is offically now the forum for DCUA aswell as everything else on TV.
