Facsimile edition

Standard comic size edition

Anybody getting these? I have a used decent copy of the original tabloid size 1978 edition that I was able to get for just 4 bucks years ago and I think it was about time this was made available for fans and for those curious how a silly idea came to be.

I only have the Deluxe Edition and it's remastered with better coloring than what was done on the Neal Adams Batman collections since I don't think he supervised this project.

I'm glad DC finally reprinted this. The deluxe edition is great! The over sized edition is ridiculously overpriced.

Neal Adams did supervise the new coloring on this, his studio called Continuity Studios did the coloring to his specifications. He was just happier with the original color on this so he stuck closer to the original color on this Superman book than he did on his Batman stuff which he had generally recolored darker for Batman's nighttime setting.

Neal Adams daughter Kris said about the Superman vs Muhammad Ali coloring, "We are keeping the flavor of the original color and just bringing it up a notch.

When I first started working at Continuity one of the first jobs I had besides answering the phones and making sure the coffee pot was full for the "Crusty Bunkers" was that I got to zip some of the pages of the Superman vs Ali job. I remember being really scared of screwing up. I was using an exacto- blade (which is a small razor blade) and I was cutting this thin skin stuff called zip-a-tone on Neal Adams original art and what if I cut through the paper? "OH MY GOD !" Well the first page I ever zipped is the spread with the green aliens pointing. I zipped the ring in the sky. Now I am watching over the book again. I'm so glad that we get to refurbish it and DC is printing it again. Thank you Paul Levitz."

Interesting story, are you still working in the comic biz?

That was a quote from Neal Adams daughter Kris.

i haaaaaaaaaaate that they re-color these!!!!

when they released those volumes of neal adams batman books, i was so bummed about the re-coloring i didnt even want to buy them, and still dont.

^ It's ok in some areas and not overly done and dark like Neal's Batman books.

i'd rather just get the original (or a re-print), which is easy enough to find.
