A BRIT holidaymaker was hailed a hero yesterday after wrestling a shark away from kids paddling in the sea.
Paul Marshallsea, 62, was enjoying a beach barbecue in Australia when people screamed Shark.
He waded in, grabbed the 6½ft dusky whaler shark by the tail and dragged it to deeper water. The dad of three, from Merthyr Tydfil, South Wales, said: My instincts took over.
Paul on a month-long trip with his family added: He turned on me and just missed with a bite. He could have had my leg off in a split second, he was that quick.
A coastguard at Bulcock Beach, Queensland, said: We dont recommend manhandling sharks but this gentleman did a great job.
Helicopters and lifeguards on jet skis lured the shark out to sea.
